I have just bought a PIP Bingo and was wondering if it would be posible to run 6 sub c cells with a 480 motor? Has anyone ever tried to drop a 05 motor into one of these?

Hi Jim, the Bingo is pretty small compared to a full size ECO, you may be able to get a 480 in there and some of the smaller cells like CP-1300's and CP-1700's. They are not very fast with a 400, but they run for like 8 minutes and would be a blast in a pool.

This one is like 14 inches and is suposed to have a 480 in it.

Chris Fine advertises it as such on his web pages, but it is a 400 motor.

try a 480 graupner "cobalt" into it & dump 8 KR 1000 s in & it will rock!.A stock graupner 480 will work well & give you more runtime...cheers!..

Here are the specs fr the stock motor at http://www.hobbycentretoyworld.com.au/model/brand/mpx/planes/motors/permax/permax480.htm

I found one of these and I am going to try it as it should drop right in and its almost 5000 motor rpm more
http://www.hobbycentretoyworld.com.au/model/brand/mpx/planes/motors/permax/permax400bb.htm

Where can I get the specs on the cobalt Graupner 480 and where is it available in the states?
Thanks for the info
Jim

I am not sure if you have a different version than I do, but I took the stock motor out of my Bingo and it was a Graupner 400 with an ESC (with water cooling) soldered on the back. It has been a while, but I am certain that a 400 and 480 have different mounting patterns. However, like I said before, you might have a different version of the boat that does indeed take a 480.

I just pulled it all apart and Dan you are right. The hole pattern is about .125 wider bummer. Oh well I only paid 20.00 for two nearly new and one parts motor. Dan exactly what is your setup motor and esc and does it drop right into the existing mount? and did you leave it a straight shaft? The mounting holes are .640 apart to the center of each.
Thanks Dan

The small motor market has been overrun by brushless, with the exception of the inexpensive ($10) motors. I have a Mega 16/15/4 with a Jeti controller in my Bingo and a 16/15/3 with a 40A Castle Creations in another small ECO. The Megas bolt right in, but you do need Ned Schmit to make you a new coupler because they have a 3.2mm shaft rather than 2.3mm.

Another option is the black long can 400 that Hobby Lobby sells, but I have seen that motor in a Bingo and am not impressed.

Thanks Dan for the info I know Ned so that is no problem as he is already making me a couple of new rudder blades for my hydro.

Jim , just a couple of ideas for ya .

1. The first motor on the page , a long can 400 , cheap .

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/speed280.htm

2. Global Super Cobalt 400 27T Motor from tower . Bolt pattern matches 400 and 500 motors .
