hey Guys received 2 nice packages yesterday and the day before....
1 was from Roger Newton...
well his plans are legendary but I have to say the drawings that I just received for building an allison, (this is a just found sheet) are tremendous, nearly every nut and bolt on a full size sheet, holy smokes!!! add this to his other great plan set and you are set...
Roger Man YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!:hail:

the other package arrived from my friend Tom, low and behold an army air corp original assembly manual for the allison Plus 2 great rod and custom magazines with a guy putting allisons in everything.. and a great hydro history book

tom Thank you I owe you big time... You rock too Buddy!!!

so I am gonna make an allison so real you will swear it will start yeeehaaa

I would also be willing to share photos if anyone needs them I can scan some But I will not scan rogers drawings... sorry
I will highly recommend anyone building an allison or the rolls for that matter to grab a set of Rogers plans, they are in 1/8th and would be invaluable to the builder... (hey you pt boat guys too LOL the pt had three allisons btw)

cheers eddie:rockon:

Eddie,

You know about the Conley Chevies, right? Did you know about the Allisons that are also available? They were running them in Toledo. Holy smokes, they sound GOOD!

Andy if I build one like that (I see they sell the rough castings) I am going to need to build a really big boat or an even bigger airplane..LOL and as if mt driving wasn't bad enough can you imagine my flying..(yup think tora tora tora ) I would just love to see it though,,, I am a machinery junkie!!
after this project is done I am going to see what size motor would fit over a 700 or a 940 plett and build one like Dave... and I mean exposed etc..with the motor inside... just got to figue a way to plumb the water into a bilge and use the vacuum/water flow from the water cooling to suck it out.... another wacky idea in the old cocoanut...

BTW spoke with Rich he is eagerly awaiting a call from skip...:)

get much snow, we have about 8" on the ground, 5 1/2 hours to go from nyc to south river (33 miles) what a joy... I was sooooo glad I had that pint of orange juice for lunch...man I had to goooooo:lalala:

Sorry guys, I'm not sure if it was Merlin or Allison or another, but it was definitely one of the WW2 Allied engines that made it into the U's after the war.

At Toledo last year there were at least two companies BESIDES Conley that were showing them. Conley wasn't showing the big iron.

I saw Conley, one guy with a straight 4, and another with the aircraft engine. There may have been more. I think the aircraft guy I saw was the McDaniel one. Guys, you gotta do the BIG trade shows to see this stuff. Leave the conscience behind and bring all the credit cards.

OK, get ready. Sit down.

This is unbelievable. The talents of some machinists are staggering:

I have know about Scerri's 1/3 Ferrari for a while now. The story is incredible 15 years of work. 3 years alone to draw the plans. I'm waiting until I see the full story on video released.

In my opinion that is the most incredible modeling achievement ever.
