Hi,a young Boy in Germany has today his first testrun with a T-Rex 40/700 in a 1:8 Hydroplane. As he want not to make a mistace he thought like big Chevy, piston displasment can only compensate by moore piston displasment,so he buys the bigged motor to get the T-Rex and the Schulze 32.170 esc put 2 X 32 cells in and fit a Propshop 60/17 prop on. The result was 96,7 km/h,this is 60,4 mph. Not bad for a first run and X-mas for me.
The T-Rex 40 was cold as the esc after the run.
The 40 is here only giving 25 % of what he can do so the T-Rex 20/700 is enough for the job and has less iron loss. The rev where about 20000 under load.

Christian Thanx for that info very interesting!!, I have heard from some very knowledgeables sources here about that motor, which speed control could safely handle that motor? the 32.170 I know and I will not be spending 575 dollars for it are there any others that may fit the bill that are cheaper? I sent you a private message awhile ago I do not think you got it... thanx again, very very cool....:)

No doubt, you Germans are the "masters of understatement".
On Flyware's website, in the listing for the motor T-Rex Light 20/700 Brushlessmotor, its weight is listed as 0,00 g. Now, I would definitely call that light!:D
Very interesting motors.

Hi,the interesting thing is that the guy has runn this boat at the German SAW,with SAW set up,with a Lehner 2280/12 only 57,5mph and the motor was pretty warm.
Yea that realy light Doug,my T-Rex 20 weight about 620 gram.
The new Flyware 32.152 will handle the power and is much cheaper.Start to sell will be the Nürnberg Toy Far,february 2004.
I have my give a different winding like two motors in one case, with this i have a 6 phase motor and need two esc to controll it right,my choise was the Hacker /Master 77 watercooled.
Do they have an english site? Any published numbers (rpm/volt ect on the t/Rex 40/700? Looks like things are gonna get fun with some monster power!!!!

No English site that I've ever seen.
The 700 from the motor size 40/700 is the Kv of 700 rpm/volt.
Hello Guys,
Ya got my attention but what's the web site address?
Paul.
Hey Paul, Its www.flyware.de

Hi All,
the crasy guy wantīs to know how does it the shorter version and he build in the T.Rex 20/700 in and run it with one pack 32 cells.
The result was about the same speed(85 km/h,53 mph with 5517 propshop prop) and moore with the 6017 but no exact mph because the gps go down.Runntime was 2 and a half minute and the cells arenīt empty. And the motor was only 30° degree cold.
He didnīt an aditional run because the wether is prety cold in Germany. We have snow and ice and only some fluid water.
The result shows that this motor is a not to expensive alternative to the Lehner motor.

Christian that is great news
now speed controls - what is the characteristic of the load created by an outrunner motor compared to an internal rotor?
And what are the implications of the high pole count particularly regarding ESC operating frequency and the limits on motor rpm?

Christian, did you get a chance to look into the motors for me?
Thanks
