Get 6 Volts DC down to 3.6 Volts DC

I need to get power from a 6 Volt DC source down to 3.6 volts cheaply/fastly. How can I do this?

How many amps?

If microamps to a couple milliamps, try a voltage reference diode and a resistor.

If many milliamps, use a linear regulator.

If amps, I'd need to shop around.
