Well i have this graupner gtx480 outboard motor -that runs on 6 cellīs but I want It to go faster... So how many cell can i but on it before there will be danger to damage the motor????
By the way itīs a speed 480 and I have mounted watercooling...
I have gone to 8 cells 1,000 nimh short cells and it runs well. I have good luck with 6-8 runs on it now. I am sure the extra volts will shorten the life of the motor but it looks good so far. You could also upgrade the stock480 to the bb480. I think it is a bit faster.

Okay thanks...
But do anybody know if it can handle 10 cells???
Well I have tried if I could replace the stock motor... But I ran in some trouble... I could not get the motor of... It's mounted on this triangulary plate with 3 screws on the outboard console.. Oka fine I thought then I can just loosen theese... And yeah i could.. but the aksel on the motor it was like it was fastend to outboard console some how... I didn't dare to use force an just rip it of im affraid to damage it... Anybody how knows how to get it of??? should I just use a little force or???

Hi Per,
On the left hand side you will see a hole in the outboard tail. Through that hole you can reach the allan screw in the coupler, if you loosen that screw, you can get the motor + triangular plate from the outboard console. ( it's a 1.5mm allan screw)
I wouldn't go to 10 cells though, the motor wouldn't last long+ the cable will probably snap very fast. Even with the standard motor the cable's in these GTX 480 outboards break very easy!! On the newer versions i am told is a stronger cable.
