Here is a pic of my vintage shovel I just put together. I made a new one for a LSH setup. The exhaust is made from styrene tube and some tiny plastic plumbing.

I have a mold of him. He was my concept but designed and made by Paul Olsen who is Commodore of the EMYC. Paul is a very talented retired mold maker who has made several molds and hulls of tugs and sailboats He was generous enough to help me alot with the shovel molds and also make this driver figure.

I will probably offer the driver as an option in the future - have to figure time and expense first and see. He is a solid cast figure of a light plastic material - weighs about .7 oz.

What a beauty! If the antenna was not there it would look real!

Doug,

You need an Azarr antenna (www.ecubedrc.com) and it would be poifect.

That running shot reminds me of Nitrogen Too, one of my all time favorites.

Very nice Doug! I want one!

If you make the driver, you can count on me for a few! :D

Thanks for the antenna site Andy, I'm getting a few. I like the scheme of the Nitrogen boat also. I am thinking about it for another build.

Dan, looks like the hull could get a driver option soon.

Thanks again for the compliments! I like using that krylon fusion paint, it makes it alot easier. First time i tried a lacquer clear coat too, works great.

Although your website refers a buyer to Fine Design, I still do not see your hull listed on his site.

I prefer to buy inside the USA instead of across borders if the same product is available in the USA.

Wow! Got my kit the other day and I have to say...the finest quality hull and kit I have ever seen.

Can't wait to get her done.

Great job, Doug!!

P.S. What other boats used this design if I want some option for paint, etc? Not sure I want Hawaii Kai.

Thanks - I appreciate the comp!

I dont know if anybody wants the Kai scheme! (Sorry, Paul LOL)
:D

Your asm instructions on page 10 under 'Finishing and Painting' should list some web sites with good pictures of older hydros.
If not, You can check out the pdf instructions on the classichydros site.
Included are the sites for the Electric RC Unlimiteds:
http://www.e-rcu.org/
you can browse there and find alot of great photos.
and also Roger Newtons site:
http://www.newtonmarine.com/
check out these plan numbers. 105, 112,114,121,131,144,178
I would suggest to buy on of his paint scheme plans to get a good layout for position.
Many older shovels ran with the engine housings on and off, so you can improvise a bit. (maybe I'll have a static engine for the kit someday  )

more great photos here to:
http://www.lesliefield.com/

I know there are more sites too I have not mentioned.

Jeff if you need some art I have graphics for my bardahl and also another Karelsen hull the Vernors plus I have the Shield that goes on the nose or a Miss US whish would be a great looking boat like 103D on newton marine site all you would need to do is to print them out on decal material or I could print them out. I also have some of the graphics for the 58 Bardahl. you can check my site for pics of that.

Jim, thank you very much for the offer.

I was thinking of no paint on this one and using graphics only
like decals and striping...just to keep it light as I can.

Any clues on styles that use white as the base would be helpful.

All I can think of is the
Miss Burien or Tempus several others on this link same boat just different names http://www.newtonmarine.com/102_plans.html
or the Miss Thriftway http://www.newtonmarine.com/112_plans.html

I think Miss Thriifway is the choice....I want this thing as light as I can.Should be fun with a 700 or my 290/30/4 and 12 cells.

One of the coolest parts on this boat is the motor mount. Takes a 700 or a plett 290/30...quick to change from LSH to P classes.

Thanks for the help.... Still considering ride pads. I really think they help.

Well I gave it a try. I need more experience at optimizing file sizing and screen area size. try to ignore the white dashes:rolleyes:

Doug, e-mail the full size pics to me that you want posted and I will post them fullsize (or at least reasonable size) on the board since I have a photo hosting account. Or alternatively I can give you the URL and you can post them at will. ;)
