Does anyone here have some photos of their finished hydromite?

Not yet but I am very close. Almost ready to paint. Waiting on motor/ speed control/ batteries that I ordered for Fastelectrics. Within two weeks I will be in the water. If you are thinking about building one, you should, I am dying to see it run. It has really turned out great, and has been very easy to build.

Thank you Nate.
That is music to my ears!
I will have photos of the finished Hydromite for the "Feed The Children" raffle at the Florida Hydro Shootout, sometime next week. I will post them here.

Good........I have a slight interest in building one just to take up some time, and to give me a project to last over the summer. I just want some photos to get an idea how some people are setting them up, and paiting them, and how they customized it to make it different.

Doug,
I have found a pretty good match for the canopy on the hydromite. (1) 5", (1) 7" airplane canopies. The 7" canopy is ww2 era so it is more round, then the more modern 5" canopy. My idea is to have the 5" canopy backwards, with its' original forward bubble inside the 7" canopies forward end. It looks pretty close to me , so I think i will try it. The good thing is that I only spent like $4 on both canopies. I also found that I need alot of practice soldering brass,LOL. Thanks for everything.

here you go, less the vinyl. I have decided on a theme yet. The cowling is actually two airplane canopiescut and glued together, see post above. The strut is from fine design. the 1300's and the Kontronik Sun 3000 esc are from fastelectrics.com, all the rest is built from scratch. I definately need to practice my brass soldering. Enjoy

RC- GUY,
I was the locky lad who won the HYDRO-MITE at the raffle. All of the hardware was included, so for me, it's a no brainer ( Good Thing!!) on putting it together. I'll be putting a 480-BB in it with the same set-up as Nate. His turned out really fine, Inspite of my help!!! HA,HA
We should have some pic's soon of both of them together. That will be a killer scene!! Maybe tearing the water together!!! Cool!!!
Thanks again Doug. You the man!!!

First run today
After resetting the speed control to full throttle, she ran very fast and stable. The only negative things that I noticed were(1) the prop airing out on the turns(just needs to be lowered, no problem).(2) The motor was extremly hot, despite using an X427 prop. I am going to try Mika Holcs'(spelling) watercooling ring. Hopefully this should solve the heat problem. To all that have considered builing this hydro, I say go for it. It is truely an awesome hull, not to mention very cheap(under $20 for all the wood). Good Luck to all and happy building!!!Thanks again Doug!!!!!!!!

rc-dude,
I was using a 480 BB with 7 1300 SCR's. My current setup is a mega brushless motor and the same batteries. I have not run it yet, but I will report on it as soon as I do. I just bought a house, Boats are on the back burner, poop.

So your using seven sub-C cells in a boat of that size? Man, you might as well run a 540!

The batts I use are about half the height of a normal sub-c battery. I got them from andrew at fastelectrics.com. Here are some pics of my hydromite and Reed Eagle raffle won hydromite.

Hydromite Materials List (wood)
Here is a materials list for the necessary wood to build the Hydromite.
1/16" Balsa sheet - 3" X 36" - 2 sheets
3/32" Balsa sheet - 3" X 36" - 2 sheets
1/64" Plywood - 12" X 24" - 1 piece
1/32" Plywood - 12" X 24" - 1 piece
You will have a fair bit left over but you have to buy the 12"X24" piece for the lengths over 12"
3/32" Sq. Balsa - 36" - 2 pcs.
3/32" X 1/4" Balsa (hard) - 36" - 2 pcs.
1/4" X 1/4" Balsa - 36" - 1 pc.
3/8" X 1/2" Balsa - 6" (or laminate from 3 X 1/8" X 1/2" )
Note: Balsa is relatively inexpensive. Buy a little more than you need. You are bound to make mistakes and it's handy to build up a box of scrap balsa for your future projects.
Have fun!
