Latest RCBM arrived today :)
Great article about GAS SAW boats! They held a SAW event end of March this year. The riggers resembled Team JAG's boat very much. Mark Grim's boat was indeed a JAG's hull. "Insane Grim" is is called and looks wonderful!
Record holder 106 mph with a 25 cc (8 HP) QD motor is Mike Bontoft.
The fumes are getting closer to our speeds.....
Great pictures by John Reid.

Hi Sigge,
this article shows ,that a boat can also be fast with low rev motors. As my family has growen at the 29.June,i hope to find moore time to build up some new SAW boats.

I took that to mean "members of the 100+ MPH family."
So now I guess Joerg needs to clarify himself!

And about SAW racing,i have got last week the steel version of the prop i want to use.On the right is the prime cast version of the prop made in stereo litographie with database from Joerg.
left the steel of the prop.Size is 67mm dia and a pitch ratio of 2,3.
In the backround you see the 2267 and the 1.8 Octura prop for sizecomparison.

Does anyone have a link to some pics of nitro/gas SAW boats? I wouldn't know the first place to look for them.
Thanks,
Scott.

I have pictures of Mike Bontoft's 100 + mph gas rigger as well as several others that were at the Legg Lake record trials. E-mail me and I can send them to you.

The boat in the "Grimm gasser" picture was a joint project between Jeff Michaud and Mark Grimm. It holds the NAMBA G1 record of 99+ mph. Jeff had a one way run of 102 mph. The second picture is Mike Bontoft's gas rigger. It holds the NAMBA GX1 record of 102+ mph. Mike had a one way run of 106 mph. Both builders were heavily influenced by the electric straight line boats. Though both boats use 25cc engines, Jeff's engine is a modified Zenoah while Mike's is a Quickdraw. The Quickdraw is a custom built racing engine with more power than the Zenoah.

Hello lohring,
what's the difference between G1 and GX1?

The boat in the "Grimm gasser" picture was a joint project between Jeff Michaud and Mark Grimm. Not that it matters much (to anyone but Mark), but Mark spells his name with a single "M". ;)
G-1 boats have engines from 15 to 25.99 cc displacement and are industrial, lawn maintenance engines. Most engine parts must be parts of the original motor manufacturer.
GX-1 boats have the same displacement limits, but can be of any origin or modification.
All must be ignition engines, not glow or diesel.

The G class gas engines are modified production engines. The rules limit modifications, fuel, and ignition system. The GX engines are only restricted in fuel, ignition, and displacement. Currently the Quickdraw develops about 30% more power than the best Zenoahs.
