View Full Version : Scale-12-cell
All,I just purchased an H-M streamline hydro. As far as turn fin mounting and angle, should I match the outside sponson angle? As far as depth, how deep should I run it(turn fin)? Also the package came with FDM composite turn fin (looks like a taifun peice) Any feedback on this or should I use a metal type fin? Thanks all!!

I always mount my turn fins out near the outside edge of the sponson pad and angled inwards at the bottom of the fin at 5 - 7 degrees to vertical. If the composite fin is stiff enough, there is no reason to replace it with metal. I have used CF plate turn fins for years.
Doug,Thanks for the flip, this will be my first hydro so,it will be a new learning experiance.I guess is doesn't have to match the angle of the sponson then to be effective.I can take the fin in my hand and flex it a bit, makes me curious.Do you think she'll hop or slide? Here's a pic of the hull, looks alot like your Hydro-mite,neat!Thanks Doug.
Dan,
I've been running that hull for 2 years and have found that the smaller the TF you can use the better. That hull is a rocket (if you call 45-47mph, setup in oval trim, on 12cells quick). I think you'll like it. Have fun.
