View Full Version : Hacker 70 in reverse

Running my Q Offshore w/Aveox 3630 on (14 cell x536) proven setup after 2 laps all of the sudden it stopped and went into reverse locked. Finally got it in all connections were fine the boat was full of water form the reversing shaft pulling it in. Normally a dry boat. Fairly new Controller and motor are cooled. I'm Baffled never seen any thing like it, any ideas guys.

Hi Ken,

It's possible in BL ESCs when there is an impedance matching problem for the controller to suddenly start running the motor in reverse, but it doesn't happen after it's already spinning, it's a startup condition. Usually the controller clears itself after being stopped and restarted. Is that what happened?

Did it retain this operation after a power cycle?

Does this controller have a "normal" and "reverse" mode?

The H70 only should reverse direction when 2 wires are switched to my knowledge. I haven't tried it since it happened i'll have another look at it this weekend.

Lost a Penguin also i'll get with you on that. :(

Does it stay in this reversed mode now? If so, it sounds like minor damage to the ESC. Too bad it's not Made in America.

My Hacker 77 has reverse mode.
Is a Hacker 70 different ????

Did you know Hacker sells a setup box ?
Every club should own one, they can be shared.

I had this happen on my cat, not once but twice !!!!! And both times it was replaced by hacker as it is a known problem in the software, it has the programming for reverse but is disablled. My 12 cell, 10L powered cat went into reverse after a 4 minute race and I shut it down and was coasting and suddenly it went into full reverse untill the Navy70 turned to fried epoxy! (no cooling in reverse)I think the cells vented, they were over 200 degrees F, I have since cycled the cells and they seem ok, will pass them onto my dad for his little 6-cell spd550 mono. I have also started useing the new Barracuda125, as they are the same price as the hackers.
