Sept. 23rd, 24th & 25th second annual "Trent Hare Classic" - Kaiser Cove NAMBA Dist. 9
Kaiser Cove in Fremont California is one of the oldest NAMBA race courses in the country, it has an elevated drivers stand and is located in a protected quarry. Fremont is located on the north edge of the Silicon Valley and just a short 30 minute drive from the Oakland International Airport and 45 minutes south east of San Francisco. Offshore classes will be a 4 minute enduro with a LeMans Start on an irregular course.
Entries fees are $15.00 for DMWB members for the first boat and $5 for each boat after that. Non members are $17.50 for the first boat and $5 for each boat after that. $2.50 for each racer goes to the District 9 fund. ALL racers MUST be members of NAMBA or have a single event membership. Both NAMBA forms will be available at the race. Sign-in starts at 8:30am, drivers meeting at 9:00am followed by the first heats. We are still working on providing food or drinks at the pond, so it might be a good idea to pack some food and drinks. We will have more information on food and drinks as we get closer to the race date. We have a VERY limited amount of tents, if you are flying in, please email me ASAP. If you are driving, please bring your own tent if possible. Tables and power will be provided.
It will take three boats to make a class. If a class is not offered and you can round up 3 boats, we will add the class.
Please list the classes you will be running and the frequency for each boat here, we will keep the racers list updated here on Rum Runner. Trent was our web master and we have not been able to replace him yet, sorry for the inconvenience.

Dan at the dirt oval track they just put in Spectra and not any channel it is a little clearer. So behind Willmer you could just put Spectra. I will see if I can get James to sign up His dad will not make it, a weding to go to.
Also I have only one 4 cell setup I need to either drop M2 mono or move it to sunday

Thanks, David, Got ya! I heard from Mr. Mono Greg Schweers today, he's coming! He just hasn't signed up yet, same with Brian Jones and his son Dean. Now if we can just get Mark Ferreira to comit .... :D
Hey Dan, just wondering........
Am I supposed to pay registration fees before I get up there? ANd what about that NAMBA fee? Does one fee cover both days?
Dan Chase
09-03-2005, 02:19 PM
Hi Tom,
You can pay ahead of time if you like, shoot me a PM and I'll give you the details. The NAMBA single event insurance ($10) is good for the entire event (Friday practice, Saturday & Sunday racing) but it can only be used once a year, so if you were planning on racing at the SAW in Nov. you would need full NAMBA membership. The NAMBA fee needs to be a sperate check made payable to NAMBA.

Dan,
I'm on channel 82. So,what size hull are most people running for this class? I got that 48" V boat and a drifter L,just wondering which boat would be more ideal for me to run.Is it going to be a big OS coarse?
Redster
Dan Chase
09-10-2005, 07:04 PM
Thanks Redster! I know that two of the boats are 40" monos, not sure about the other. Yes, its a BIG offshore course, so bring your fastest boat that will make 4 minutes!!!
I can't wait to watch the S Offshore race!!! :D
See you in 2 weeks!

What's the coarse lay out?Is it just a HUGE oval or a different configuration?

Redster,
I have not had a chance to work on the class schedule yet, but I would get there early for some open water to get the feel for the course. Signups are from 8:00am - 9:00pm followed by the driver meeting and then the first heats, then it all gets nuts!!! :D
Mark,
We had to drop P Hydro! We had 2 entries, but we had to drop i when we ordered the trophies! ya signed up to late, dude!!! :(
Anyone that has NOT been to Kaiser Cove, please print the instructions and keep my cell phone handy (925) 639-1712 It's NOT the easiest pond to find in the world, just when you think your REALLY LOST, your almost there! ;)
The Combo to the gate is 2001, it's the only combination lock on the gate, please lock it behind you.
Any other DMWB that wants to post their cell phone number please do!

Dan can you take me off P mono.
Okay, this is my first time entering a boat race. So I am trying to think of all the gear I should bring, especially since I am away from home and can't run back real fast for stuff I forgot!
Here is what I am thinking I need to bring for this event, please let me know if I am forgetting stuff or not bringing enough:
1) pop up shade
2) two folding camp chairs for me and my wife
3) the two race boats
4) one newly built battery pack for each
5) 110V power supply
6) 12V battery charger
7) all the spare props I own
8 ) hobby tools
9) glue
10) tape
11) cable grease
12) miscellaneous hardware
13) radio system and spare AA batteries
And the most important items: my camera gear so I can photograph the event! That's really my thing anyway. :D
Anything else?
Dan Chase
09-20-2005, 06:13 PM
Tom,
That looks pretty good to me!
I would add a small ice chest for cold drinks and maybe some sandwiches. It's a real pain to leave the pond for food and drinks.
Also a power strip if you have one.
We are working on having hot dogs and drinks, but so far we can't guarantee they will be there, so plan accordingly.
Pete,
Done!
Thanks Dan. I added the power strip and coller to my list.
Oh, are there some tables there we can use?
Dan Chase
09-21-2005, 05:03 PM
Yes, We have plenty of tables, I just hope you don't mind the smell of nitro!!! :D
