Hey guys, I have a Hacker B50-8S that I plan to use in a gearbox in either a 36" deep V or a 29-33" Cat. Does anybody have an idea of what prop/gearing to go with ? I will be using 3 cell Lipo packs that will be 120amp rated along with a Castle Barracuda 125. I just don't know which hull to go with. I won't be racing it as there are no close electric races, but gotta have something fast to play with!

Any and all help will be appreciated ! I am not new to Brushless as I have used them in cars and airplanes for quite a while now , but it has been quite a few years (15 I think) since I ran a Sport 40 hydro and a Dumas Scorcerer on nitro! My only electric boat back then was a very dissapointing MRP Bud Hydro. :p

Hey Rick,

I've typed and re-typed a response to this, trying to get my wording right. I just can't communicate this any better than this.

Don't do it.

The 8S is a hot motor on 10 volts, and without more info on your lipo pack, I worry that you are setting yourself up for disaster.

The 8S is a terrific motor, but set up more for boats in the 21 " range, or a 6-8 cell rigger. Even those set ups pull 70-80 amps.
Your gear drive will help tame the amp draw, but it will also limit your speed.

You need a bigger motor for the boats you mentioned. And, you need someone with more lipo experience than me to recommend a good lipo setup. More volts and capacity (maybe-don't know what you have).

That's what I thought, but I have this motor already. I'll just get me a B50-12XL and put lots a Watts thru it !
Thanks !
