I wish to replace my Trinity D3 12*3 wind motor with a brushless motor.

What size brushless will fit ( bolt up) in place of a 540 ?

Maybe a Mega 16/15/5 ? 2.68 ounces

the present motor & 45 degree Hughey gear drive touches the top hatch, so I don't want a larger diameter motor can.

Looking for light weight here. micro sized hull. (17.5")

also RPM per VOLT ? I do not know what I need, the gears I have give a 2.1 reduction.
Is that enough, or do I need to call Ed about another ratio ?

what hull and how many cells?

I will run the Mega 1615/ 3 turn on 6-8Nimh 1100GP's in my MHZ 17" shovelnose.
Another guy uses the 5 turn but with a 3S Lipo.

Direct drive no gear box.

The problem will be bolting the small-format motor to the mounting plate on the Hughey...the small motors have a diameter about what an 05 has for hole spacing - 1.1" vs 1.0". The smaller motor hole spacing is usually 16 or 19 mm versus 25.4 mm. I don't think there is enough metal in the mount to drill new holes, but you could make an adapter plate/spacer. A Hacker S motor will fit and it weighs about what an 05 brushed motor does (7 oz).
