There was a recent thread on this topic but I can't find it anymore.
I wanted to provide this, a source for decal paper that you can use with any custom graphic printed on an inkjet print. After the ink dries, you simply spray it with a fixative that comes with the paper.

The same product is also offered through Micro-Mark at http://www.micromark.com/
I use it, works great. Make sure you spray on a couple of coats of the fixative before dipping them in water.
It says they are "water-slip decals. Won't those come off your boat when it's in the water? You could clearcoat them, I suppose.

Clear coating is, I think, essential. "Water-slip" refers to the fact that they are applied in the traditional way.

I've used both brands and they do work. Clearcoat for sure.
They do fade by the end of a season though.
But, hey. You'll need to repaint the boat every year if you have been out there swapping paint or getting run over all summer.

I too have used both and the product from Micromark gives you twice the amount of the paper for the same price. You get 5 8.5X11 inch sheets fromMicro-Mark versus 5 5.5X8.5 sheets from the supercal material and it is exactly the same stuff.
Doug just out of curiosity have you had problems with down when pringiing causing the decals to bleed and blur when dried? I have had to pull back on the ink levels in my printer setup to get a good sharp looking product.

Jim,
You'll have to translate for me. I'm not fluent in that language. :)
Someone said they fade. I haven't experienced that yet, although my use so far has been limited.
You'll have to ask me at the end of this next season.

I don't even understand that language. I guess I should read my posts before finishing them. What I was trying to say is that my printer (a lexmark Z51) puts down tooo much ink and the decals get blury. If I back off on the amount of ink the printer uses they print much better and the decals are much better. I also have not had a problem with fading.

I use an HP 970 and no, I haven't experienced any "down when pringing", er, I mean too much ink bleeding. LOL

I just tryed this on an Hp P1000 with "Best" and "Photo paper" settings. I looked great until a day after the fixitive was on. The the black started getting soft edges. The white areas are now ivory.
So, it works, but it is still not like a crisp new comercial decal sheet.

That is the same problem I have and i have solved it by going into the printing software and pulling back on the amount of ink that is used.
