I got this boat in a trade (before anyone jumps on me I do know that the rudder is on the wrong side and I'll fix it) my ? is (look at the over head pic) the rudder shaft is cut short will this work? If not shorter or longer? or is the strut long enough, or do I need the longer one? Also the strut is 1/8 will I be able to get a prop beg enough to move this size boat ( 22" hydro)

It looks as if there is a threaded ball link on the end of the rudder linkage. Can you turn it out a bit to make the assembly a bit longer?
Not quite sure about the rudder linkage, but I put the rudder on the left side of the boat for you.

The rudder shaft is what I'm talking about not the linkage I have about 6" on the servo rod I'll need to cut it to make it work

You want the shorter strut for a hydro and the rudder post is fine this size unless the size of prop you want to run would hit it. If it did then you would need the longer one this looks about the right size to me.

Why is it on the wrong side? My boats have rudders on the right and turn just fine. Don't believe everything you hear at the pond.

Or here.

Mine is the same only the rudder shaft is even shorter. Works fine.

Andy is right...they used to all be on the right but some like it on the left to keep it out of the water turbulance in the corners when running oval.

Mine is on the left but should not make a lot of diffence...some of the fastest Nitro riggers still run them on the right side.

I just installed my rudder on the right side on my Titan. I hope it works! Come to think of it, most of the rudders I have seen have been on the right side.

Hello Pooley,

Leave that setup as is. It looks good to me (except for that x431, lol) I run all my rudders on the right side of the boat, the turning response is excellent.

Paul.

:D That prop was just for the pic Do you think that I'll be able to get a big enough prop on that size shaft? it is the same dia. as the flex shaft I think the biggert size I have is a 438 for my mono

Hey Pooley,

No problem, for direct drive in a 1/16 scale boat the 1/8" shaft props will be the ones your working with, x430, x432m x632 y532.
