Is MMM going to allow the new SS1 Speed 700 motor to be used in our LSH class? This motor is allowed under NAMBA rules. This is a $65 US motor that is similar to the 9.6 V NEO but has improved magnets that are more heat resistant and bigger cooling fan blades and motor openings so it supposed to run cooler and last longer.

I am thinking about ordering this motor but will not do so if it is not considered acceptable in our club. That said, I would hate to buy the NEO for $60 US and then see later on that we are allowing this new motor.

FDM are claiming the motor should be good for 3 or 4 seasons! Not sure if I buy this but it sounds good.

Based on RRR posts, I know Doug F dislikes the idea of a new motor being allowed since it may provide a slight performance advantage and thus is unfair to others. What are other opinions on allowing this motor?

Thanks Ralph

I vote yes to allow it. Were running 6 instead of 10 laps and its all in good fun. If it will handle heat better than the Neo and it fits within the rules it should be allowed. I cooked my Neo, my fault. I would think with bigger fan blades this motor would be a tad slower than the NEO.

I vote to include it, this class is so new, we may as well allow it.

The extra cost will be worth it if it increases peformance.
