Andy K or anyone else,
How long of a straight shaft is needed to run a middle bearing. The hull is an ET shovelnose classic II. Stuffing box is 1/4"id carbon arrow shaft. Shaft is 1/8"stainless steel welding rod. I have 2 flanged bearings now and was wondering if I will need a middle bearing to eliminate whip in the stuffing box. The stuffing box will be about 5 1/2"- 6". Any help would be great.

You will need a driveshaft of about 10" to put the motor in the right place on that boat (at the CG). This is plenty long-enough for a third bearing.

I have one of these boats myself, and that's what I measured.
