Hey Guys, I needed to make a driver for myself, so I created one, and then made created a mold to reproduce them in resin, as I am building a couple of boats and what the heck, drivers are hard to find, this driver is smaller then the neat one Doug Campbell makes, it started as a 4 " figure, which would make the guy exactly 6' in 1/16th, he also has the mid sixties early seventies helmet...
Also would it be better to have him all as one piece or with separate arms or should I offer both?
any thoughts.

Eddie,
I'll take some. I like the idea of glue-on arms for minor adjustments.

Thanx top!
probably in a week or so, I have made a few already, and deciding the arm shape is still up in the air, I cast them fairly straight, and then simply cut an angle them for the best fit, depending on the size cockpit
here's another

Yeah, boat racers in drag, heavy breathers. Knowing Dan and that San Francisco effect, his drivers will be painted pink.

If you get one without a helmet, or with an old-fashioned leather-style football helmet, let me know. We need a decent pilot for a biplane that our club will raffle the first weekend in June.

Good. Now I don't have to let that little greaser drive my boat. Did you see what he did to my Allison? I'm going to make that little stiff put it back to the 1957 configuration. :D
I may have room for more body to my driver. Maybe down to his knees, or perhaps even an entire figure.

What a work of art!! Ed did you do that from scratch?
Steve, depends on how you look at it LOL.... He started out as an antique figure, life vest , details etc were all added from scratch, and then I created a mold, resin cast him, then cut and angled the arms etc, I created my 1/8th from a balsa block... used sculpty etc... but no sense in reinventing the wheel...:)
thanx for the comps steve...

I added some new drivers to the 1/16th line up
here is a late 60's mid 70's driver with the old style wrap around visor, this guy I needed for my 73-77 bud, it's good for guys who dn't like to do a lot of painting details...

I also added a modern full face helmet driver to the crew, this guy has facial details and a tinted face mask, the visor can be made operational, but that is getting kinda sick LOL... :yeah:

since Doug campbell was nice enough to post that redone vinatge hydro I added some damascene (engine turning) to the dash... the greaser stole my sterring wheel, probably hocked it for a few bucks to take out that chippy fire chick... Dawg!!!.well hope you like her so far...

Are those rivets, or screws on the dash board?
Eddie, I think I see a goof up.
The number four nut on the right outer valve cover appears to be an SAE nut instead of an AN nut. :moon:

Try Bill Fleisher info@microfasteners.com 800-892-6917. He's right off I-78 Exit 20, about 6 miles from the restaurant we had the meeting at.
Nice guy, and super helpful. He supports our airplane club LVRCS. A year or two ago I won a metric fastener assortment he donated for the raffle.

OK Eddie, you have my attention. Now, Bill and I MUST get to work on the new 1/12th scale LSH, true scale 1956 – 58 Jones round-nose Wahoo, Thriftway, Shanty, Spokane, Eagle-Electric, etc….
I will order the 12th scale Allison for my Miss Wahoo. – “The plans are in the mail”.

Dr. Jet
04-14-2006, 08:44 PM
OK Garry, you're on for a 1/12 scale LSH, but first, I have to finish the Short Circuit and the Key West. Then, I'll need more time to do it right. The SC was my first-ever attempt at something scale and I have had to "invent" many of the steps and processes I utilized in the build. I have already dreamed up many better ways of solving building problems that may go in a future project. There won't be an issue of mixing up AN nuts with SAE ones. ;)
I'm thinking I may run low on time for completing the SC. I'm going to take a couple of weeks off and take my glider out to New Mexico, then stop in Arizona for a couple of days as well, so there will be some building time lost. During that time, the base coats of paint can be drying out for final sanding and final color coats.

Garry, I better order a 1/12th scale myself then, maybe I can make some resin pieces.... things like the covers, the carb, and the manifolds??? better get working on that 1/12th guy too, but Jimbo Clark was threating bodily harm, so I just finished pouring the mold for the 1/24th driver...
