I have a keywest cat and I am ready to install my water pick-up
does it matter if it at the top of the prop or bottom? thanks for your time. Bill

Bill

IMO it will be easier to take it from the top -

Bill,

The pickup does not need to be in the water - behind the prop in the rooster tail will do nicely.

Thanks guys I was not sure how much force was needed to supply water.

Due to the inefficiency of "cooling coils" and the heat capacity of water, you only need a small amount of water flowing for your cooling needs.

BTW, I saw offshore powerboat racing on "Speedvision" the other day, and they showed the water pickups on the outdriveof a boat. The thing was about 3/4 inch diameter, cut at an angle, and stuck out the bottom of the (ride plate?) on the outdrive only about 1/2 inch!

Sound familar? It was used to spray water over the outdrive to keep it cool, not the engine.

The water pick up on my rigger, you can make it look better, but this all that is needed.

On my rigger I have a triple pick up system. 1 for the motor and one for each side of the Aveox controller. Each pick up is 3/4 inch
above the prop. No problem plenty of water going through.
