:yeah: Here are a few photos of one of my never ending Rod projects, She started off in life as a bone stock 1947 Chevy Fleetline fast back. This winter I pulled her in the garage, she had been done in old school black primer with heavy red pinstriping , wide whites with red wheels along with chrome caps and rings, for power she had sported a tri power 327 and 4 speed. All has since been changed. This past winter I pulled her in the garage blew her apart and surgery began. First off we installed a lowered Mustang II front suspension and an all aluminum w-32 quick change rear end, I lowered the ride 5 inches, I then began major body chopping. The top has been chopped 4 inches, the body sectioned 1 1/2 inches. She has been shortened in the rear 3 inches, all of the chrome trim has been removed of which there was a ton. shaved the door handles with electric doors & power windows installed, Head and tail lights have been frenched, rolled rear pan with inset license plate box, hood has been nosed and peaked and raised 1 inch, one piece bent glass winshield Just to name a few things. The engine has been changed the the pictured 450 horse small block 400 stroker that runs throttle body type fuel injection backed up by an overbuilt turbo 400 with overdrive. Exhuast is all 3 1/2 inch stainless. This bear moves right on down the road and handles great. She is a kick to drive and has turned 10 + second times with slicks and 488 gearing. Don't think she'll ever be finished but thats just 1/2 the fun.

:yeah: She was at 3700 to 3800 LBS.( No interior or frills at that time, Basic stripped weight. She has since gained a bit of weight and compfort) She ran her best pass of 10.78 with a dual 4 holley set up on a lo rise tunnel ram with AV. gas. But ran really hot. Also have changed the Ram horn exhaust to Sanderson Alumniums, The SB is really built, almost to much for the street. Took her out a couple of times as she is not a racer, just got a bit carried away with power plant, She has been detuned a bit for more streeable perfomance. She rarely passes the pumps Not very pacticle but I can always change things, She will be on the back burner for a while.!!

Mine does the quarter-mile in 10 minutes, but that includes water hazards, steep slopes, rocks, ravines, and places you would be afraid to walk.

Top speed in the quarter (or anything else for that matter) is 65mph, but with 6 portal axles singing away, it's much more comfortable at 55.

I wanted to know the weight because I too had a fast car a while back.
Mine weighed 2910 lbs. complete.

I would like to ask you how tall are the rear tires ?

You see I had a 4.88 gear with 27.5" street treads swapped with 28.0" x 10.5" wrinkles.

Both first & second gears were a test of drivers skill, you know what I mean...

The slicks I ran were 29 inces tall 15 wide @ 14.5 Lbs pressure. The rear fenders have been widened 1.5 inces and tubbed 4 inches into the trunk. The tires don't break lose to bad she is heavy in the rear. It also has a triangulated 4 bar in the rear, once you adjust the coilover shocks to much lighter spring pressure the butt drops on take off and she will pull the front tires off of the ground. Not a wheelie but still off the ground. The motor has dynoed at 443 HP at the rear wheels. The engine is built to take some RPM's full roller valve train, aluminum heads Crower roller cam, aluminum rods, 12 to 1 hypereutetic pistons. 7 quart cooled pan. . The sound of this engine is almost better than being in love. My wife laughs at me some times I just love to start it and hear the whine of the gear drive, the sound of the rollers like a 4-8-8-4 locomotve, the deep throaty rump.....rump.....rump of the exhaust all topped off by the quiet hisss of the fuel and air going through it. God I love the music she makes. Almost makes $ 4.00 a gallon worth it.
