Has anyone ever checked on running at Lagoon Valley Park in Vacaville?

Just Curious... It is a good sized lake just off of i80 before vacaville if you are headed towards Sac.

I have been there to shoot my Bow. The lake seems to be calm at least when I have been there. Also It don't seem to ever be busy at the park. Just a few frisbee golfers and a few at the dog park that is fenced in. I drive by it every day when I commute. I'd check it out for FE boats but I really am not sure what I would be looking for other than its a Lake.

Hey Rick, check and see how flat it is, if there is a park ranger, ask them if we can run electric boats there and see if we can put a retrieve boat in the water and buoys. See how good the access is for car and getting equipment to the pond. Also check the size, it should be bigger then Heather Farms to handle the 12 cell and up boats. If you have a digital camera, take some pics!

Sounds cool! Good luck! :yeah:

Dan, I believe that its is much larger than Heather farms. I will try to go and take some pictures and check access. I have never seen a Ranger there, so I will try to contact parks and rec and ask.

I went buy there on sunday the pond looks big enough, but looking at the trees it was windy could see light waves but would have to go down to the water to know if the waves are too big for model boats. Take Dans advise and check with the Parks department and the Rangers on all of his points.

On another note the pond in Charmichael that same day was calm and little wind. We are working on securing it for races too. I realy liked the size of the pond access was good only 100 feet from the parking lot to the water.

I have left a message with the parks dept. to find out who to talk to. The ranger station has been empty each time I have been by.

Thanks, Rick! Sometimes it takes a lot of perseverance to deal with the parks department!!!

It's in Vacaville. I havent been able to get an official O.K. to run there. However the Local Hobby shop advised me that they run electrics there and they run the Nitro boats at Lake Berryessa. when i have a chance I'll do some more research. Getting the Parks Dept. to respond has been a chore.

Randy found a new pond in Concord we are going to take a look at Saturday, it's supposed to be 2x bigger then Heather Farms. The pond in Carmicheal is huge from what I understand, big enough to hold a Nationals! ... :D

Hi Dick, sorry I just noticed your post. We meet the first Saturday of the month around 1:00, but it's not uncommon for everyone to be running late. Here's a link to the directions to Heather Farms, if you send me a PM with your son's email, we send out a monthly email and reminder. http://hometown.aol.com/danimation/Directions.html

I wont be at the next run, I'll be in Texas Drag Racing, but I'm sure the rest of the guys will show him around.

My bud in Carmicheal lives on Camino park Ct. 95608, Edwards B Pond is one of the ponds that we can use on the first saturday of the month this year after the agreament is signed. There are a few bugs that have to be worked out untill then Heather farms is the place for us.
