Steve: Some data for you.

Unfortunately, not much about setup, prop, etc. but it gives an idea how the amp draw varies during a heat.

Interesting Jay, I thought we were pulling a little less. 34 MPH for an oval setup is pretty efficient so the numbers seem pretty solid to me. I wonder what Paul Pachmeyer and I were pulling on our SAW runs?
Thanks,
Dick

I'd say that depends on the effective pitch of your props - but you won't be telling us that, will/can you? ;)

Sweet !
Now thats the kind of data that I love. One charts notes its as a 645 prop and Andrew made note of it being a Neo-X. I've got some number crunching to do :)

Come on Jay, I'm an open book.
All you have to do is ask right?
It started out it's life as a 2047. However, It's not even close to that now. I cut and bent and tweaked it for 3 straight days. It's probably around a 44 mm now with tons more pitch. How much? Don't know, I just kept cranking it up until the boat went slower, then I backed it off a little.

Come on Jay, I'm an open book...I know that Dick, that's why I said "can you" tell us. Remember I pitted right next to you that year and saw some of the tweaking you and Chris did to that prop. That sure wasn't a "2047" by the last day of the race!
Surely someone has a prop pitch gauge in Washington......

Jay,
Thanks for the data it will help to put things in perspective.
The Amps and the RPM and the cumulative drain is great!
Now if I only had some temp data!....hmmmm

Dick,
I am trying to gather some information to help the novice make the decision of how many motor winds to put in a boat? You guys with all the experience are a great resource but It would still be nice if we could ask some basic questions about a boat design, intended set up, and number of batteries and come up with a wind count that wouldn't fry the motor or bake the batteries.
Check out the "Preventing excessive battery heat" thread in the Brushless Motor Forum. This will help you to get the basic idea I am working on. Any help you gould give would be really appreciated.

The boat was running IB3800s (zapped and cycled) through an RC Hydros V90; Neo-X /Hughey flex/ Solinger hardware to a S'd & B'd OCtura X645 - the lot was in a stock Campbell shovel.
