The MPBA Fast Electric committee of which I am secretary has the authority to organise and run a speed records event in the UK. How where and when we do it is a matter for the committee of the section. Arrangements are well in hand to run an event this year and one aspect we are looking at is the possibility of overseas racers attending with a view to setting European records. MPBA records can only be held by MPBA members but that does not prevent us from setting European records. At this stage we cannot reveal any of the arrangments because they are provisional however I would like to know who among our overseas friends would like to attend this event. One condition that will be mandatory is anyone attending must be able to prove third party insurance. E mail me if you want to attend.
Another fact we can make clear is that this event is nothing to do with an commercial interest and as such ratification of any records will be myself any probably Dan of fast electric world(also a committee member) as neither of us have any commercial links.(We dont sell anything!)
It is hoped that they way they event is managed/administered will result in records that have meaning and can go into the record books. More to the point anyone wrecking a motor or controller to set a record will know its for some purpose.
This event will be seperate from any run by the UK IC enthusiasts. (In the past they have been run together-it dont work!)

Dick, does that mean the whiskey box is still empty? We need some sponsors for Dick's travel money box!
Ernie, as far as I know neither Naviga or any other national organisation in Europe (maybe except in the UK) ever had classes for speed records of electric boats. So from my view anyone can call any speed trails in Europe the European Championship. Records will be European Records. Noone ever claimed to have European record books. Just do it and it'll be yours.

Joerg your name should be the first in the book 80 mph is surely a record over there. From what I have seen they talk about 100 kph.

Right Ray. I forgot the powerboat guys in Germany. Their record is either 102 or 110 kph. But these guys are racing for fun. They measure with a GPS.
There is no national or international organization behind them, just local clubs. No rules, no classes. Their records were done with huge cats, 2 motors I don't know how many cells - lots in any case.
Still, it could be interesting to have classes for them, Ernie. I'm sure it's a show when such a boat flies by. Maybe some of them would be interested as well.

Thanks for the comments. The MPBA is affiliated to Naviga so if we get it right in the UK we nay convince Naviga to recognise speed records and that may result in an increase in interest in other countries.
Can but try as they say.

Right Ernie, that's the way to go. Make it a national class and then submit the rules to the Naviga.

Wonder if Bell and Simpson make kitty products?.......... He'd require some sort of restraint to keep from upsetting the CG, but then again, maybe he'd just sink his claws into the shrinkwrap.....
