Weather is looking iffy. Is anyone planning on trying to go out?

It gets dicey over there sometimes!

Ray,

Unless any rain is more than just drizzle or it's colder than a "well-diggers a--", I will be there. If it gets dicey later in the afternoon we can go over to my house and we'll have work session on sharpening props. Now I want to make a disclaimer here: I do not claim to be an expert on props! However I will be happy to share what I have learned and the process that I use :hammer: to prepare props. In our club the real experts are Jim & Jay.

If it's really nasty I will stay home and work on my new LSO Mono.

I was looking forward to an LSH rematch! I created some ride pads on the shovel tonight. Mr. Campbell told me they were just flat plastic in the sponson shape so I bought some 2mm thick white styrene and cut them close to size and whittled them down to size. I put some putty filler around the edge and sanded it flat and then put a thin coat of microballooned epoxy over the joint. I will give it one more sanding tomorrow night and it will be ready to rock. Here is a picture.http://www.raynash.com/ridepads.jpg.

They extend about a 1/16" of an inch beyond the back of the sponsons as Jay suggested.

It looks messy but cleanup will be quick. I will do a final fine sanding on the edges and clean up the mess with a file. It should be ready to paint by this weekend. I also have the vertical fin on the hatch cover. I think I will just rough prime the bottom and do the top up in a bright color for visibility with some black trim.

What kind of vinyl sizes can JD produce? I was thinking of numbers and letters small enough for the hull and large enough to read. Since it can be a fictional hydro I was thinking U-903(namba #) on the top of the shovel and HOTMBC on the sides of the engine cowling in Black.

Let me know JD...

The reason I ask is you mentioned it in your build thread and I have tons of the stuff. I need a little bit for the JETCAT LSO build for flotation but I have more in the one sheet I bought than I will ever need I am thinking.
Let me know and I will bring some. You can laminate it with 3m77 easily enough for any thickness you need.

I am up for a few laps Saturday morning, I might even have the UL-1 ready for LSH testing. The UL-1 is undergoing extensive repairs for the hull and structural. I just started the sanding late last night, so I will have to see how much time I have to get it ready. If worse comes to worse I will still bring my regular LSH (just finished extra mods and a new SS1), P-sport hydro, and my LSO (just finished mods as well).

Ray,
I can produce vinyl graphics 15ft long and 2ft wide, or lettery down to 1/16" :) Just let me know the size(W x H, color = Red, blue, gold, silver, yellow, black, fuscia, neon green, white, orange, and I have access to crabon fiber vinyl and chrome vinyl). If you let me know by Friday I can have them cut and ready for you by Saturday.

Steve-O,
Your Oberto graphics are ready and I will have them with me Saturday morning ($5 for the vinyl)

Stephen and I got out and ran a few times before the weather went south. My last run finished up as the sprinkles began to fall.

I slapped my first duck as my LSH is steering a little less surely. The ride pads have added a little speed and a little instability in the turns. On the other hand. The heat shrink I put between the stuffing tube and strut and the rubber I put on the kwik switch has all but eliminated the water in my hull. After hitting the duck I went upside down. Not a drop of water to be found. I was very happy with the results.

Maybe by the next meeting I will have the paint on and I will be ready for that vinyl!

Stay Dry:yeah:

Man O Man!
Ray is fearless with that little classic shovelnose!
He has put some nice ridepads on her and adjusted the strut a little and she is running great!

Some of Lake Victoria's resident feather-brains decided to ignore proper race course etiquette, and Ray delivered one a serious thumping to remind him that we run clockwise and LSH's have the right of way on Race Day. Ray wound up-side-down but no damage done, even to the bird-brain involved!

I am now convinced that I have one bad cell in my LSH pack. It was almost 30 degrees hotter than any other cell in the pack after my second run. It's going to be a problem to replace.

Work continues on the "Tortuga SeaBOLT" and she's starting to look like a race boat instead of a basket!

Hope everybody is OK and we all look forward to seeing you next time!

Hmm I seem to remember thinking that I was quite timid on the far corner because of all the hull hopping. It is definitely a lot looser than it was! I look forward to some racing!
