Just a reminder that there is a district 9 and model mariners meeting at 10:00 at Kaiser Cove, we need as many DMWB and electric racers there as we can get. This will determine how many races we get this year!!!

We may also get two classes in the district 9 point series, so let's have a good turnout!!!

You guys should be congratulated on your enthusiasm. Lots of dedication necessary to meet at the pond this time of year.

Do you build bonfires and serve hot chocolate, or perhaps a splash of Jack Daniels in hot apple cider? Maybe do a little ice fishing after the meeting? Perhaps sail your rc ice boats? :yeah:

No, but it's going to be in the 70's, so we will probably have to wear long pants! ;)

They had said 70's on the news, but I bet it's in the high 60's, I hate the winter! :(

Hi Chonburi, it was good to finally meet you and John today! I'm looking forward to this season! I wish we brought a couple electrics along to show them what a really fast boat looked like! ;) :D

I would like to talk about the district 9 races were thinking of joining this year. I guess its also a question for the DMWB races as well. I am setting up a P hydro and want to know what wind / size others are running for a motor on 12 cells or 4S lipo? I am starting with a new H&M Viper @ only 24" it may turn out to small but its what i have for now. I will upgrade to a longer hull if needed over time.

Also it was great to see you all @ the Pond... I can't wait to do some practice or Racing.
On that note what would be a good date to meet back up in Fremont? Maybe @ the next meeting? Only bring some boats this time? Let us know.

Learning every day,

Learning every day,

Lipo I not yet in, It is still in limbo till after the announcement. so for now it is 12 cells. I run a B50 8XL and a 642 prop.

We will need to be at the meeting on the 18th next month and I want to go out to Kiser cove soon But, this week end and next is out so the soonest is the 10th or the 11th of FEB. I need to run my 1/8 scale on one of those days to see how the cells wll do.

Better bring your sweater, just in case you get a sudden chill.

Also can you mount the strut normal (off the back of the transom) on a P sport hydro or will it have to be like 1/8" scale and under the boat? (I hope not) please let me know. Building in Progress on mine!

Thanks,

Dan Chase

For P Sport Hydro, hanging the strut off the back is fine, but it will never run with nitro that way. District 9 & 19 have already said that the hulls must conform to nitro rules IF they allow them to run with nitro. That's a big IF!!! For electric only racing, it's fine.

That is good to know!

Thanks Dan,

It does look as if they let the Gas Sport Hydro boats hang out the back as will. I guess just not the nitro classes.

O ya, I guess this is a good time to let the cat out of the bag. We have been quite busy here in Fresno after seeing the Gas Sport Hydros run last Sunday (Fremont). These both are shipping out to us RTR on Monday and should be here by next Friday!

Yes, just nitro, but the District directors have said if we actually run with the nitro boats, our hulls would have to conform, as long as it's electric only we can go by the electric rules. Does that make sense?

I got to test the Atlas U1 1/8" Scale today. It was not much of a test. I got to the lake to find 4" to 8" chop... I fired it up anyway and did one lap. All i can say is WOW on the power. I never got to open her up but after getting home and checking the logger I had a 105A 35V (3800Watt) spike on take off. For being 15 LBS it took off like a batt out of hell. I guess I need to ease into it next time or get a bigger ESC.... I can't wait to check amp draw and speed when I get some good water. Current setup is a NEU 15/21-2 Finned with water jacket. Hacker 77 esc and 2 x 5S 5000 TP lipo.

Fun Fun,

I did not hear about "they invited the electric 1/8 scale class to the Grand Prix at Kaiser Cove " Can I get on the email list or pointed to where you guys talk about that type stuff. That is great news it just may be too late for me to get my plans approved by the boss (wife)... I may have to choose the 18th or the Grand Prix this month. It is also Jennifer's (wife) birthday today. I owe her a weekend somewhere and I don't think Fremont to race boats will cut it!

I another not it looks like we are loosing one of the new members "chonburi" has agreed to take on a new job and is getting moved to Florida. That being said he will not be making it on the 18th.

Now that I have a taste of what the 1/8" scale is going to do it is hard to sleep thinking about getting back to the lake to open her up... I may have to leave work alittle early on Monday, pick up my boy from daycare and head to the lake on the way home.. I need to check the weather report for wind first!

Over and Out!
