Now that I'm switching from the stock 1157 drive line to the 1/4" stuffing tube with home made drive shaft, should the new stuffing tube be lower than 5/16" from the transom as in Andy's directions? The 1/4" tube is considerably smaller in diameter. I'm just trying to avoid moving it 3 or 4 times!
BTW anybody know how fast the LSH were running @ MI? After seeing Dick C. video of his LSH I've been wondering how he's going so fast. I've got alot to learn!

Set it up so the center of the prop is in the same position.
The best time was like 2:40 (2.67 minutes).
1 mile (10 laps of 1/10th mile each) / 2.67 minutes = x miles / 60 minutes.
22.5 MPH
The water was awful, though.
If somebody needs to see the algebra just let me know.

Yes. It must have been pretty hot to burn the resin - that's "flame proof" 94V-0 material! It looks like it was shorted out like you said. I will be updating it to the latest version when as well. Also looking at how to repair the damaged area.
Expect it to ship on Monday or Tuesday.

Thirty thousands dollars and your firstborn child.
$25 for the FET replacement, and you have to promise not to make it short the pack again! I will be putting heat shrink on it to help.

Are you sure you want the first? Be carefull what wou wish for cause the wife goes with the first!
Can I pay by Pay Pal or a check, money order,
I took out the metal stuffing tube and have reorganized the inside so I hope this won't happen again. Did I read once that you use a 1.5 oz reciever battery? If so where did you get it

Yee-haa! Sounds like what could happen to my SC-3 LP.
Mine's sitting about 1/8" from the Plet, to the right side. Lots of potential metal on metal action.
I'm using some double sided 3m sponge tape to hold it down. Am I playing with fire? (pun intended)
I trust the SC, to no end. But, am I pushing it w/ that tape?
BTW- with my first run and flip of the Volcanic Splash, I did get a considerable amount of water in the boat, and the SC did just fine (I had bagged and banded the rx).
Also, the trim on my stick transmitter (4 ch) needs full trim to the bottom to keep the motor from running (and with the very slight slop, as in moving up and letting center, the motor will start to turn over). Is this normal?
Love the cutoff feature, too! I sure can't kill my tx on the Kyosho! That on / off switch and servo SC will eventually turn on w/ no signal to keep it in position.
Yeah, Andy, tell us about those Rx packs! :) LOL
Thanks,
Paul

The 1.5 oz pack is 5 N cells which I purchase in bulk from www.digikey.com (I buy LOTS of parts from them). For a while I was selling receiver packs but there isn't any volume on them so I stopped.
If interest in them warrants, I will do it again. They will be about $22 if I do it.
Paul, the tape is fine. Isn't your ESC in shrink wrap? His wasn't - it looked like the water cooling tubes shorted out to something.

I would be in for a few packs!
Pete
Here's a pack that wieghts 1.16oz or 33 grams and has about half the capacity of 4 aa batts. They are 2, 3 volt lithium cells. The holder is a single AA from Radio Shack cut and lengthened about 1/4 inch. Total cost under 20 Cnd.

pete,
9 volts are the only way to go. never had any probs running w/out a diode. although I have heard that some have had their receivers fry. just cant beat the $5.00 for a 10 pack of Energizers from Sams Club! BTW are you going to have a CBox boat for the up coming season?

Well I have a LSH and I was thinking about an N2 mono. My neighbor Dave has a LSH that we are working on set-ups and will probably get a oval master for N2 if I get one. If the MMYC starts running LSH we can race in 2 classes. Both Dave and I are looking foward to racing next season. Pat sent me the info for membership by snail mail, so I should have it soon. I got 4 2400 sanyo packs from balistic batteries the other day and will test them tomarow. We should get together to run before next season . I have no problem driving to the SE valley.

On a good day we have about 10 or so racers in CBox, unfortunately right now it is the ONLY class. I think we lit the fire at the last race with our N2 trial. My Ovalmaster was cookin' too bad it needs a lot more tuning. also want to start 12 cell mono. hope to have a brushless set up soon. the bigger boats are cool to watch.
We need to set up a saturday or something before the season starts maybee we can work out the bugs in the N2 class and get it rolling. would like to see the Hydros run.

The UL1 Hydros are fun to run and set up easy w/ Andy K.'S instructions. they are fast and handle well. The most expensive part is the batteries! ( the other can of worms). Pat said he would run a class if he had 3 or more entries. Dave and I are 2 LSH and you and Pat are 2 N2's If we get N2's and some others get LSH there could be 3 classes! I wouldn't mind 12 cell mono but N2 is easier to start in.

I agree with the N2. i am still hunting for a good deal for a crackerbox and am looking into the SS LHS that Randy sells.
And Yes the batteries are the killer for me:(
