I finally got a decent deal on a nice 14.8v lipo for P sport. It won't be here in time for this weekend but I expect to have it thereafter. I purchased an Enerland 4350 mah 20/30/50c 4S1P so it can pull 87amps continuous and very high amperage for short durations. Battery problem solved for the P sport hydro!

With the new stuff coming in this weekend I should have good packs for both my existing boats. I haven't had much time to mess with the LSO yet but I plan on starting the Sidewinder Sunday and also working on the JetCat to see what I can do about the battery installation issue. I have done some pretty serious butchering of my LSH prop and hope that the mods make it run a LOT cooler.

On props - is detonging always a good idea on the X series of props with fast electrics? Say the X438 or X440 on the P sport Hydro?

Steve - can you bring your prop balancer to the meeting? My balancer shaft is warped which is why it doesnt work worth a flip. Any ideas on an easy replacement?

Tom - can you bring your dyno setup? I want to check both my 700 motors before I run out and spend all that cash on new ones.

Jim - can I impose on you for a little more soldering? (I promise I will get my own hammerhead very soon) Also, do you have a Hacker programming box I can use to check the settings on my Navy 77?

I look forward to Saturday but I may not be running much. I have got to work on proper setups, motors, props, and powerpacks. If my 700 motors are not damaged from the high temp runs they went through, then I will install the best in my LSH and give it a few setup runs with the new butchered prop. If they are not working well anymore then I will be hunting new ones.

Yes, remove the tongue to gain top speed.

ALWAYS start with a small prop and slowly work your way up, deadly with Lipo if you don't!

It is such a good idea that Octura makes the "M" series props which are just "X" props with most of the tongue removed. Next time you get props, choose the "M" if it comes in the size you need. I have heard that detonguing a 1/8" prop can reduce its thrust too much, but I've set SAW records with detongued x430s....

There are other tested ways to reduce the load from the prop, but most just reduce the prop efficiency. Removing the tongue increases top end efficiency and removes some loading too. Cutting back the leading edge of the entire blade reduces load too, but it may or may not result in a speed increase.

Good info! I have a few questions. when cutting down a prop, say from a 48mm to a 44mm, I know its to reduce loading BUT HOW is it done is there a prefered method?
