Who is up for what classes tomorrow? I have the whole day off so I am bringing the fleet (LSH, LSO, SV27, P-sport hydro, Q-mono, and the Team Believer). Ray, please bring your video camera if you can. I will be testing the Team Believer with the 2280/10 on ThunderPower Extreme 10S 6600's. If this thing explodes I want it on video

LSH, LSO, P-Sport Hydro, Q-Mono, P-Mono, 1/8th Scale, Q-Offshore, would be good, along with a few demo runs of dragboats, unlimited offshore, etc..:yeah:

I wouldn't mind having an extra buoy for offshore tomorrow.

I will bring the camera. I am not sure how long I can stay tomorrow. I may not bring any boats. I really need to get my props inspected by the experts. I think I will get my x438 and x440 detongued and shaped today also. If you guys are running x638 to x642 props on your P sport rigs then I know why my P sport boat is so slow! lol If my Lipo pack comes in the mail today I will bring the p sport out. Otherwise it will wait till the next meeting. I will probably only bring the LSH out to test the X646 that I have butchered into a detongued X644. At least that is what I think I did.

Ray - God I am such a newb.....

I do have some RACE video processed but I cannot post it yet. I have some from the week before also but I did a terrible job videotaping a lot of this stuff. Its not great stuff so I am trying to edit it and clean it up.

I wouldn't mind having an extra buoy for offshore tomorrow.

Since we used that entrance buoy at the race to establish our mill entrance we should probably used something similar at lake Victoria which could also be used as the offshore buoy.

Dangit. If I didn't have to work tomorrow, I'd head out tonite and come check that out. You guys have got some boats over "yonder"!

Jamie,
Ditch work and pack up your SV27 and Mean Machine.

Jamie,
Ditch work and pack up your SV27 and Mean Machine.

I'd love to, but I work every 4th or 5th Saturday and I just don't like waiting until the day before to ask another manager to swap with me. I have a feeling we'll make it happen in the future. I've siad it before, I'll say it again... I want to visit your "ware"house!:yeah:

We are trying to organize our first "official" race this Sunday, so I'll have plenty on the "to do" list tomorrow afternoon when I get off.

LSH, LSO, P-Sport Hydro for me...but the weather doesn't look too good for the smaller hydros with winds up to near 20 mph by 1 PM. And 10 mph at 7 AM looks to kill any SAW practice too, even if the rain wasn't 50%. :(werqr

Stephen Mason

Yeah the weather looks kinda questionable at least for the little boats.
But heck if HOTMBC can run LSH heats in Carrollton in March, we can sure race LSH in Katy in April.

I'm bringing LSH, P-SPORT, Q-Mono and the "Bullet" just in case the wind lets up for me!

I will bring my hammerhead soldering iron to start making-up Batt-packs.
I can't wait to get a new pack in my LSH!

Jay Turner
04-13-2007, 09:35 PM
I'm not going to try the SAW running at 7 AM. But I will bring my three boats, almost 300 IB3600 cells, and dozens of oatmeal cookies by 10 AM!

BTW these cells look great so far. I built one pack and cycled it a few times, and it holds almost 4000 mAh with good voltage - all the cells are equal. Can't wait to try them myself.

Jay,

I'm not going to try to run SAW's in the morning either. Right now the weather for saws looks to be poor at best.
Are you discharging the cells with your charger or a bulb bar discharger?
Man! I am anxious to get my hands on those cells!:bounce:

Jay Turner
04-13-2007, 10:10 PM
Neither. I am using a CAMLITE discharger - it uses electronics, fans and ballast resistors to take pack voltage down to a pre-determined level. I don't use it much anymore with the modern NiMH cells as they don't need to be discharged - and shouldn't be as a matter of course. But for breaking in new packs on the bench it is great.

Had a great time again today, as usual. Some great racing in rather challenging water and wind - but lots of fun. The blow-offs were spectacular, with no real damage (except for the Steve/Tom wham bam thank you ma'am contact). Tom once again tried to pass another racer underwater (didn't work) and I attempted a new depth record myself.

Welcome to soon-to-be racing member Kevin! Mark is getting his boats sorted out and we can't wait to be challenged by his Screaming Seaman LSH boat. Mike made some changes in his own LSH's trim and with the new cells installed he'll be tough. JD's 10S Bad Catitude was fun to watch as it ripped up the pond. This should be a great summer of racing at the HOTMBC! :) :) :)

Ray took a bunch of video today (he didn't race himself) and he has a lot from past races too. I guess there are only so many hours in a day..... ;)

WHOA Man!!!
That's a GREAT Shot!!!!!

I love my new Canon 35mm Digital. I have a 300mm zoom on its way and I will get some better shots soon.

That photo was shot while Jay was running with the wind to his back.

Don't you guys know boats are meant to run on the water not fly like planes?

Stephen Mason

JD,

Thanks for the cool picture of the "Dixie"!

Jay Turner

Don't you guys know boats are meant to run on the water not fly like planes? The photos are deceptive, the wind was gusting to 20+ mph and it was a challenge to finish a heat upright. But most heats saw plenty of finishers, so I guess we have it figured out...kinda. ;)

Hope your race goes well today Jaime, and do try to head out west sometime and run with us.

We got blown out today. The wind has been blowing so hard it blew over some of my lawn furniture in the back yard. I didn't think the racing would be too fun.

Thanks for the invite. I hope to make it over that way one weekend to check you guys out. I've been looking for a used fiberglass camper top for my '03 F350 Dually and even check out Houston's "craigslist.com" thinking it wouldn't be a bad road trip for the right deal. They are apparently hard to find, though. I can find a top for about any truck out there but mine..

jallen355
04-18-2007, 12:37 PM
Imagine that! I have found a camper top I want and guess what.. It's in Houston. Well, sort of. It's actually in Pearland at a business on Broadway St. (hwy 518 ). Just what I needed...an excuse to come visit. I've been searching locally for over a month w/o success.

Anybody up for a recon mission in Pearland???

HoustonDominant
04-18-2007, 12:47 PM
Jamie,
We are all meeting again this coming Saturday. I have made a few adjustments to my 10S cat and my new p-sport hydro will be hitting the water. They are forecasting great weather for this Saturday but this is Houston.

jallen355
04-18-2007, 12:50 PM
Yeah, kind of like New Orleans... If you don't like the weather just wait about 5 minutes.

I'm trying to get some pics of the camper i found. The ghy said it's only a year old and in "great" condition. I would sure like to confirm before driving over.

I'm off workm Friday, so Saturday just might work out. I'll get a room at the Motel 6 buy the beltway off I-10 and meet ya'll in the morning. I don't have any hyrdo's though. I know you guys run alot of them over there. Maybe one day.

HoustonDominant
04-18-2007, 12:56 PM
Jamie,
I will be running my sv27, titan 29, and drifter s. You will fit right in with no problems.

jallen355
04-18-2007, 01:12 PM
Well, if I make it I won't get in the way of any heat racing action. I'll just "sport" around during open water.

HoustonDominant
04-18-2007, 01:14 PM
Throw 18 cells in your cat and we can run Q-offshore course. There are three of us that run Q, and if Mark has his ready then four.

jallen355
04-18-2007, 01:27 PM
Oh yeah!!! Let's pick on the La. boy, huh!!! Lol!!! I can see it now!!
No 18 cell setup, but I do have 6s2p in her!

04-19-2007, 12:29 PM
Okay boys and girls. Plans are made and I hope to see you on the water (your water) assuming I can find the Victoria Lake, this Saturday morning. I'll be spending the night in Katy after picking up my camper Friday night. What time do you folks get out there? I can't wait to see some of the boats you "Big Boys" are running over there. Just promise not to laugh at my little "hoopdies"! I'm trying to borrow a "P" hydro of some sort to join in with all your hydro's, too. See ya Saturday!!

Stephen Mason

Jamie,

That's terriffic news! It'll be great to have you join us for our Saturday Fun Run on Beautiful Lake Victoria.

We usually start at around 10:00 am and race until about 3:00 (maybe 4:00) if the weather cooperates.

We are easy to find (At least we think so!)
GO west on I-10 toward San Antonio, on the west side of Houston just past Hwy 99 (aka: The Grand Parkway) is the exit for Hwy 90 going through Katy.
Take the Hwy 90 exit and follow 90 into Katy (There is a big Welcome to Katy sign on the right of the I-10 access road where you turn right to follow 90 into Katy.) Stay on 90 into Katy until you come to "Avenue D", turn right & crossover the railroad tracks then Immediately turn Left between the muffler shop and the shopping center. Follow this road west about 1 block and you will see the entrance to Victoria Lakes on your right. Turn in (right) and then turn right again at the "T". Follow the road around until you are next to the lake on your left (about 1/2 block). Jims house (our meeting place is the very next house on your left and is next to the fountain. We gather in his backyard on the patio.

See You there!

Stephen, Thanks for the kind words. I'm really looking forward to meeting up with you guys. I hope I'm not imposing on Jim's hospitality. From what I've seen here there are some nice models running around in your pond. Thanks, also for the specific driving directions.

Jay, JD had directed me to your site with the map earlier today. What? No grid coordinates? LOL! Really, though, I can't wait to shake your hand and personally thank you for the knowledge you have shared with me. Plus I want to see that cat of yours burn up some water.

HoustonDominant
04-19-2007, 04:29 PM
I will only be able to run boats from 10am to 12pm this coming Saturday. I will be running the 10S cat, my new P-sport hydro, LSH, Q-mono, and the SV27 since you are bringing yours. We have a new member with an SV27, maybe he will show up too.

Jay Turner

Hey Jay, Do you have a pilot's license?I love this photo as it shows my water cooling exit working (exit is on deck just behind the driver). I have never been able to see it while racing...

We will miss you tomorrow Jay. I am bringing my new Lipo pack and balancer out to run P sport with. I am not going to have any others to run since they are all getting a makeover. I have joined up the hull of the sidewinder for LSO and am going to let our new member Kevin take a shot at it with paint! hehe

Got called in this morning guys. Sorry about that. I really wanted to run my P hydro on my new lipo pack. When is the next meet?

Jay Turner
04-21-2007, 09:02 PM
The next should be on May 5th. But I believe that Jim is out of town that weekend, and I don't know how many of us are going to Carrolton for the IMPBA race that same weekend. Did the rest of you guys discuss this at the meeting today?

Hey Guys, I got home about 10:30 p.m. last night. I wanted to thank you guys for a fun day on the water. I had a great time. Jim, thanks so much for your hospitality AND for making me a new stuffing tube to replace the one I "trumpeted" in the Mean Machine. Oh, and don't let that "Green" Machine get away from me..... :) If you "find" a good LSH boat laying around somewhere, keep me in mind, too. Guess I'll have to have one to play next time we get together...and there WILL be a next time. JD, sorry you had to leave early. I got the '27 running right on another pair of packs. *Note* DTX3800's don't fare well after hitting 220 dgrees...:) Those packs will be relgated to retrieval barge duty in the future... Cattitude was very cool, btw. I've got some video of your run and I'll try to post it somewhere. Stephen it was great meeting you, too. Your scratch building skills are incredible. Your new design is going to fly when you find the right tweaks for it. Kevin, I can't wait to see that M-1 hit the water. Be sure and post some video when you do.

Stephen Mason

Jamie,

It was SUPER to have you take the time to come out and run with us!
We really enjoyed meeting you, had a blast running with you and were really impressed by the "Royal Purple" team.
Your boats are as quick as they are cool looking! I can't wait to see you and JD duke it out next time with the SV27's!

Please feel free to join us anytime, and please extend our welcome to your other club members as well! Maybe we'll come run with you guys sometime soon!

I will be posting up some of the pictures from the event in an album on the gallery page of our website. HOTMBC.com (http://www.HOTMBC.com) If you have any still shots that you would like to share just send them to me. I'll PM you with my home Email address.

Once again Thanks for Coming and Welcome to the new Eastern Division of the HOTMBC!
