I have had several of the Kyosho Fairwind. Lots of fun, very relaxing, yet in a good wind (or a poor one) fairly challenging.
It's totally different than FE but still enjoyable. TomL is into them too.

I've been considering the Tower Hobbies Victoria package for my wife... She seems to like sailboats, but I know she has no clue on how to run one.... I look at the price ($150 w/ tx and all), and re-think my Kyosho Jet Arrow purchase- and ask.... Did I do the right thing? In retrospect, I think learning to sail would have been a far different hobby than the "Go fast, spend money" FE world... When I can afford one, it'll be a Thunder Tiger Victoria here. This may happen sooner than I'd like to think. What do I think about sailing? I've read some articles, and it's a much more complicated affair than "go fast, turn right"...... and as you could guess, I like complicated... LOL The hardware is simpler, but the action is more complex- I think that's what attracts me...
Take Care,

I've been doing sailboats for the last 18 years. They are very relaxing and a ton of fun if you have someone to play with. The local club only sails when there is a race. For this reason I went to fast electrics.

me and my dad both got "blackhawk 32's" they are from victor models, we got two so that we can race eachother. we did want to get the "Mount Gay 30" from climate but we didnt want to spent that much (170 x 2 = lots o $) so we got the cheeper boats, and you are right about sailing being fun and chalenging, we race full size sailboats! ~Jeff

I've know guys that put a big fan at the end of a swimming pool when the wind is low. Kinda like that indoor board sailing you see every now and again.

I'm building a Thunder Tiger Victoria right now, so I can sail while the packs are cooling and charging :-) There is a ton of information on the internet about hop-ups and tuning for the Victoria. Plus the local sailboat club races them as a spec class, so I can go racing with it if I ever get the bug.
