Race 7, The HANSEN MOUNTAIN CLASSIC is in the books. Thankful that the heavy cloud cover held off and the rain wiated until the end. Everyone seemed to have a great time, it would be hard not enjoy youself on such a nice site, Beautiful lake, No boat damage, Good company and smooth sailing . What more could you ask for? I had a great time even if the WATER GREMLINS kept GRABBING MY BOATS. THANKS TO EDDIE HANSEN AND HANSEN RACING FOR THE SPONSORSHIP OF THE RACE. Thanks again to Rod and the Rocky Mountiam Thunderboat members for a great time. Chuck says thank you too for making his first ever boat racing experence a good one :-)
Were always impressed how you and your members always pull over , often turning your boats upside down , to let us old guys fron down south win the loot LOL LOL LOL
We did have a great time in a beautiful spot.
But I'm really looking forward to racing at the new pond . Keep us informed when that will be.

:yeah: I Know I am way behind with these photos But I now have the disk, Took a bit to go through the pictures, but there are some great shots. ONCE AGAIN IWOULD REALLY LIKE TO THANK EDDIE HANSEN AND HANSEN RACING FOR THE SPONSORSHIP AND SUPPORT OF OUR CLUB. Thank you EDDIE!! I have the result so I am kind of going to touch the race highlights as it seems the summer racing season is becoming a bit blurred. We had a fantastic day of racing at Lake Isabel, with the sceenery of the mountains how could it be anything else. The moutain lake however does present its challenges, but the bennifits seem to out way them. The racing and weather were excellent and we met a few new friends and got to run against some old ones. Dick (flyguy) brought a friend of his up from New Mexico to race with us we would like to welcome Chuck (Warwind) to race , Happy to have you with us!!! The classes were Lsh and LSO/Mono. The Lso / Mono Qualifying was great on the lake just enough chop to keep it interesting, Seans boat was running well as usuall, as was Dicks SV27, Chuck Brought his cat up from New Mexico and ran his first race ever, Rod brought out his newly finished SUPER MODIFYED VILLIAN and raced it in her first race, In the first heat Sean took the win with all out speed with Dick finishing a close 2nd on the same lap. Rod and Chuck just kind of went along for the ride to get the feel of things as they had new boats and different handling then they were used to, In the second LSO/ Mono heat Dick came out on top and blistered the course with the 27 with Rod getting a little better feel for the boat coming in 2nd. The LSO / MONO main was set and the race began with an uneventful start, Alll of the drivers ran a clean race to lap 5 when Seans almost to fast mono flipped in the turn ending his race early, Dick, Chuck and Rod proceeded on in that order with Dick driving cleanly and pulling away leaving Chuck and Rod battling for second. Running down the straight Chuck and Rod racing deck to deck headed in to turn 1 Rod went to the inside lane clipping the bouy and flipped his Villian on to her top ending his race, Dick and chuck continued on to the finish with Dick taking the win and Chuck in 2nd. LSH was the largest turn out class of the HANSEN MOUNTAIN CLASSIC. We had a great turnout of boats in the LSH class, Mark made the trip down from La Veta to race . The hydro Qualifyers were a bit odd, the water had shown some strange behaviors one straight was smooth with the back straight being very choppy:eek: It was kind of like running on two different courses at the same time. The first hydro heat was a clean race with all drivers running to the end Of the 10 laps. Dick taking first Sean 2nd and Mark 3rd. This was the first time Dick raced his LSH with the club and it was runninig very well. In Hydro 2-A all boats made the start. In lap 2 The rough water on the back straight gave Rod problems He flipped in the turn and was out, John and Mike continued on to the races end with John comming out on top and Mike in 2nd, In hydro heat 1-B Dick was unable to make Pit time call and was out of the race leaving the remaining 2 drivers Sean and Mark. The race began and ran smoothly to lap seven when Mark flipped his MIss Bardahl and handed the win to Sean. In hydro heat 2-B all boats made the call to the water the race began with a clean start all three drivers running together on the same lap to lap 3 when Mike hit the rough water on the back straight and flipped leaving John and Rod running on the same lap, The race continued to the end with John taking the win and Rod close behind in second. The a main was set with Dick unable to make the main all 5 remaining boats ran the main together, This race became a SUPER FLIP. The boats came off with a clean start, and ran cleanly to lap 2. The water in the back straight was the worst it had been all day Mike was the first man out his boat did a wild bounce and on to his top he went, then Marks did a great roll over and he was done, Leaving the three drivers Sean, Rod and John This went to lap 5 with all boats in close range of one and other, on lap 5 John's boat bounced up suddenly landed him on the course on his top, he was now done. On lap 6 Rod's boat flipped and gave the win to Sean. Once all was done the retrieval crew had ther work cut out for them. It was a good day right up to the last race. Now on the the awards. Here are a few photos of the day:yeah:
