I noticed the performance of mine was getting worse.
I cleaned the 550 series Johnson motor and oiled it, and it runs better now. Still, the run time is much shorter than it used to be.
Can I replace the two NiCad's it came with, with two 2400 sanyos?

I've done that with several items, even a toothbrush. Some of them use different cell sizes so be careful.

Chuck, ever consider swapping in a 700 ssI , and 12 cells, you could probably suck the eyebrows off a llama from 30 feet with that badboy,,,LOL,
seriously, it could be that the cells are just tired, I would swap them but maybe consider 3000 nimh, but perhaps the charger won't be right for the NIMH, but I think you could reconfigure a six cell pack, and have them on the outside of the dustbuster with velcro,,, I know.... it's late sorry,,, good luck,,, cheers eddie

Just swap in new nicads. I find it amazing how many people toss out old power tools and other rechargable machines due to worn out cells. I have yet to find a tool, machine or gadget that I could not find an exact or suitable replacement cell for. Heck I even rebuild laptop battery packs.

I salvaged some Porter Cable battery packs from work. They had 2000 Mah nicads. Out of three bad packs I salvaged 19 good cells. Such a deal I got!!. Coincidently I salvaged a bad Porter Cable cordless drill also and it had a speed 700 size motor in it....still looks as if it has a few good turns yet on the brushes.
Always look around for those throwouts, you never know what you might find. See Ya ! Jollyroger::D
