For the RRR build I plan to combine ideas from a number of sources into my Sport Hydro. I have been looking over the plans on RRR and my 1/8 plans of Miss Bud U1 tri wing hull.
Just looking at the modern hydros; comparing the Sponsons alone and disregarding the rest of the boat.
I find with the Pay N Pac and the Atlas the sponsons are wider towards the bow.
The Miss Bud sponson is similar to the Atlas but very short, being less that 40% of the hull length.
The Oberto sponsons however are quite different, being more “arrow shaped” when viewed from above.
In the interest of performance for a RC Sport Hydro of 26 to 30 inch, what do you think is the better sponson shape and why?
