I have Graupner Carbon Fiber Props ordered and on the way. The pitch ranges from 1.2 for the 40 and about 1.5 42mm and 1.6 for the 45mm.
They will be here in about 15-20 days.
I did not order many and will have prices shortly but it is looking like $5.00 each and $1 or so for S&H. I will get more as demand increases.
These props will be ideal for sport and cetainly much lighter and best of all NO BALANCING OR SHARPENING!!
Sizes avail. They only fit the 3/16" shaft.

Okay...I think you will be surprised at how well they do.
They worth having for the price and they are very rigid and strong. Would still be hard to break one...that Carbon Fiber is interesting stuff.

i dont know i have this unique ability to break just about anything that i get in my hands! "i didnt break it... i just used it to the extent of its durability!" has anyone here broken a 75lb bench vise? cuz i just did!
hey that 40mm prop think that it will work good w/ my bby cat and the plett 20/4? im just takin a stab at it but for $6... not really that big a deal if i get it wrong!
if a 632 is a good prop then 1.6x32= 51.2
but the 40mm 1.2x40= 48
so what does this mean? longer runtime little less speed?
Jeff Wohlt
07-03-2002, 11:39 AM
Avenger....I also run the plett 290/20/4 on 8 cells in a scat cat and 632. It is still just a little too hot for me but is a rocket.
I do think the 40mm will be good for that. Dia does play a big role for needeing the larger thrust cone...pitch is certainly important but I like swinging big props with less pitch.
Just because you drop prop sizes does not always mean you lose speed...in some cases you can gain because your motr runs higher rpm.

Jeff--depends on arrival and when you can send. Will be gone the month of August and need props by 31 July. Interested in 45x1.6 and 42x1.6/1.5.---Jim

Jeff,
I'm assuming these props have the same 1/8" opening as Octura props do - with the notch for the dog, etc.

I'm counting but I think I have enough for all.
Trying to get the guy to rush them if possible.
Matt...I would try the 40mm and 42 with that plett in the rigger. 40mm first, of course.

Jeff,
Going over bills awhile ago I ran across a check that I wrote (that is still sitting in an addressed envelope) that hasn't gone out yet.
I was gonna' do an M.O., but the wife talked me into sending a check since it wouldn't have mattered time-wise (if sent then).
I'm gonna cancel the check and get a M.O. out tomorrow... what's the status thus far regarding your receipt of the props?

Jeff, if Paul shows up at Batavia with his and mine aren't here yet, there will be hell to pay. If it works the other way, that's cool. LOL BIG TIME.
See you Fri or Sat, Paul. If the Graups don't show, I've got a DPI for you again.

Hi Jeff,
It was to correct what I guess the vendor told you:
K Carbon Graupner props are 1.2 only. If you order the S serie you will get 1.6.
For the K serie you can get from a round 33 to 63mm diam.
We use it in France because that is all we have! they coast 3dol. so it is a problem.

I have the props in stock. I think the 40mm is a prop that will work very well for many rigs. les pitch but still good size dia.
I am testing them this weekend on a couple boats.
40mm
42mm
45mm
Romain...we got the S -series. Very nice props.
Sharp, Thin and almost weightless.
Doug...I am hoping you all get them!
Surely nobody could find me in Missouri!
Let me know how it goes.

Hi everyone,
Usually in France we don't use this kind of prop. for rigger because they do not lift the boat...so you loose speed etc..
What do you think could be the benefit of a prop with a small pitch ( 1.2) is nothing compare with your Octuras!.

Hey Romain, These are not really going to be used for riggers-- that said, they are using the x series more and more on riggers because they now have plenty of power to keep the tail up..unlike years back when it took a high lift prop because power and rpm were limited.
My thoughts are that if you have to run a high lift prop on the riggers these days (especially good riggers) then you still need to do some work on it.
Many of us over here are somewhat tired of balancing/polishing and all that on the Octuras and sizes vary and this just adds to the collection.
I'm actually impressed with the quality and design of the props.
After I do an Octura prop -- tweaked, balanced and polished they will go for $25-30 each because the labor to get them right is almost 2 hours each...and then I hate to part with them.
I am trying to help many of the new guys out there that don't want to go thru the trouble tweaking props yet need something better than the old Kyosho props or worse.
A bad balanced prop can cause many problems and tear stuff up. I have heard of guys taking them (Octura) out of the package and running them and wonder why cables and bearings are coming apart from the strut end to the motor.

Ran a couple Graupner props this weekend.
I ran my big cat (14 cells 700motor)with a Prather 215 and a 642 Octura before and tried the 40mm Graupner...ran great...did not see a speed difference but I do know the motor was cooler and I ran longer. Still need some tweaking but I think the 42mm is the way to go after I few strut adjustments.
Also ran my small Cat with the plett 290/20/4 and 8 cells and tried the 40 mm. Got warm...flew like crazy but not as hard on the motor as the 632 and ran longer...was having too much fun and did not bring it in until the dump...almost too late...207D gets hot in this one with the plett.
I think the 40mm and 42 can be used with many set ups since pitch is a little less than the Octura.
Anyone wanting some of these needs to jump on it. I have about 8-10 of each size left.

E-mail me at my e-mail address below and I will give you my address info.
What motor are you running in the BBY Cat?

Hey all. Looking at larger Graupner props since most are finding that they like these and they are easy on the motors and can tolerate larger props.
Here is what is available:
48mm
51mm
54mm
57mm
60mm
63mm
70mm
I think the 48,51 and 54 could be fun but much over that would be hugh!

Jeff,
We ran my friends big Bud Dry Cat set-up with a 48mm carbon, 700neo w/turbo trans on 14 cells .It ran faster and gave more run time than the x447 b/c prop he usually runs.
Do they make any 3 blades in the 40-48mm range?

I will take a 40, 2x45, 2x48, 2x51

Hey Jeff,
Any chance on getting on with the UL-1? :)
Jeff Wohlt
08-15-2002, 03:32 PM
K.R. wow that is neat to hear. I still think that the fact that the motor is not pulling the weight of the prop that it helps. As Andrew mentioned...the pitch is consistant...more so than metal props..plus they are thinner all the way up and have less pitch at the start of the hub.
I am going to get some more ordered.
I would like some 48mm,51 and 54 sizes. I plan to get some more ordered.
They do make a three blade but only in M4 threads.
The 40mm and 42 have worked great for my larger boats and 14-16 cells...just as fast...longer runtime and less heat for the run time I increased.
I think the 40 and 42 mm props are good for many set ups...mono, cats hydros.
I'm throwing a 40mm on my BBY cat with 290/20/4 and see what happens on 8 cells. I want to see if it is just a bit less than the 438 Octura...even though the 2mm difference...but less pitch.
