View Full Version : I got gas
Anyone,I have always been awestrickin by some of the large scale gas boats out there in the R/C world, especially the models built over in europe.Excellent detail and workmanship.awhile ago I purchased a Bh Hanson Indy pro(purple head and accesories)but have yet to install it in a suitable hull.Anyone with some suggestions on which hull to use for my install??I will defenitely be using a catamaran. How large a hull will this motor push before she runs out of power?Does anyone know if zenoahs will run counter rotation/clockwise ?Thanks ahead for any feedback.

The first place that I would look is at the Aeromarine Laminates site. They have quite a selection for Gas cats from stock ones all the way to purpose built modified gas engine cats.

Have fun.

you didn't say what cc it was but if I had the money this would be the one I would get

it has been a while back but I read on one of the gas board that it can be made to run backwards but it is a major undertaking.

Hi all,
Dan, I just get my Apache 50. it's powered by Zenoah (Hanson) with a tuned pipe. The trans is a Int'l R/C Cobra Drive.
The motor spin a Prather stainless 275. The boat is really fast...
Hope to make some vids next W-E.
Thank you fellas for the kickbacks. My motor is a Hanson Indy Pro (purple) it's 23cc/G23.I have mnts for it along with a tuned pipe and header(RTC).I will end up with a cat, what I need to know is where do you draw the line in the weight dept? How much boat will it push before its useless(too slow)Thanks again all for the flips.

If you ever change your mind about using a cat hull.....check out www.whobbies.com They have some sweet hulls but they're not cat style.

I agree with you. I was about ordering a Gator or a Sport, when they said UPS will ship to me for $200 or $300. They said they'll help me with a 10% rabate, but that kind of shipping rates is really too much... Here is what Tony said :
It's terrible isn't it. Our European business would be just as good as US if shipping was more realistic. I hope you get rich too!!
Good Luck,

Tony,
I was really really interested by your Gator, but with such shipping rates I can't afford the boat... Half the price of the Gator on shipping !!! That's really too much for me.
Anyway, thanks for the 10%, hope to get rich and order you something one day :-(.
Thanks

Shipping to Europe is an expensive proposition. It's a shame, my business would be booming if I could cost effectively ship to the other side of the pond.
I also have an Enforcer Sport. Not as fast as I would really like but it is a joy to drive. I have my eye on the big shovel-ish hydro they sell.

I recently purchased a BH Hanson Quick Draw 25....Aeromarine 50" Apache.....haven't started on it yet but am looking forward.
I searched and searched and I agree.....I think Aeromarine offers the best value....details....weight of hulls...price....etc....I just love the look of a good V.

Mathieu and John,Thanks for the flips.Mat' that vee is defenitely runnin' loose!! Great pics.I have used aeromarine hulls and hdwe. since I got started in to R/C boats. They might get the nod,but I really like some of the euro' equipment too.In october namba dist.1 has a gas meet in New Jersey,I will defenitely attend that race and see whats the hot set-up.Meanwhile I'll gather up what I need to finish the drive system and be ready for a winter build.I'll be around for awhile so I'll keep all posted.Something about a screaming 2-stroke just gets me all pumped!! Later on!!

Dan,
No it's not running loose at all... It's because of the speed... LOL.
I've to trim the hull better by changing the prop angle. Hope to get even more speed !
Vids are here !!!!!!

From what I remember when I was into it the Stryker cats and hydro were the hot ticket. The A.C
http://pub21.ezboard.com/bjimsrcboatdock
This is where you want to go, some of the biggest names in gas 2 cycle roam this board.
Seems like this is the best electric board I have found yet, kudos to you all!
The links section on his main site has what I believe to be the biggest and most comprehensive 2 cycle linls anywhere.
I would reccomend:
Stryker cat
AC models Flash Cat 40
Aermoarine Sprint Cat
In that order. Thats just my opinion, ask them there, they are all gas nuts.
Wow, I got to help out :)

Yo, I know what you wanna say ;-). Just kinding.
The motor is a Zenoah (Hanson) "Red Head", first stage.
I don't have any idea of the speed because I still don't have a GPS.

If you want speed and are willing to pay for it like electrics, get your wallet ready.
Quick Draw engine with a Quickdraw pipe cut 1/2" was the hot ticket last year and I believe still is this year.
Cost roughly $1,000
Yhea thats expensive! Thats the gotta have motor for racing.
From what I can gather (no dis respect) the hanson motors are good quality motors, but are behind times when it comes to racing with equivilents.
Might I sugguest Merrick at Hyper Torque marine. Prices are as good as anywhere and since hes a racer he knows whats what.

No racing for me...
I just got the boat, I don't want to change th engine, just got 1 or 2 more props to get better overall performances, more speed or more speed up.
Mathieau,You lost me,I don't know what you thought I was thinking?? I know the boat looks almost out of control(SPEED) that is all.I have the indy pro (purple) set-up.Looks as if it would push a 3-4 foot cat rather well it seems??Thanks again Mat'! Donnie, what happened to the smilies??
