HI, I'm looking for some power options for a Blizzard Rigger I just purchased...
I don't have any races for FE in the area and motor size won't be a problem except for fitting into the hull..
Any recommendations for a motor and ESC would be appreciated..
If anyone has any for sale please let me know a price you would like.
Thanx, Tom H.

Tom,

If you are interested in a 3S setup, I may have something that would work well. An Aveox 1409/1.5Y with an Aveox SL-48 ESC (new-in-bag). Not enough Kv for 2S though, and too much for 4S.

I haven't thought of a price, but it will be reasonable.

Thanx for the reply.. Let me know what you are looking for for a price? Thanx, Tom

Is this for SAW type events or just a fasat stroll in the pond?
I have a 1509/1D on 2s1p that goes fast for short periods of time... I have also
found that this is a 2 cell hull due to it's small compartment.
You will probably not be able to fit anything bigger then an "L" can
on 2 cells and an esc in the front compartment, not so much because of
the can's diameter but it's length. Also, the motor is a little tilted and will hit the hatch.

This will be for mostly play and seeing how fast I can get it but want some longer run times..I would like to hurt some Gas guys feelings with it at a race if they will let me run with them which I'm sure they will.
Battery configuration will be an issue I see...
Are you selling the 1509/1D motor?
Thanx, Tom H.

Tom, I see what you are trying to do, we all wanna race with combustion guys and maybe gettem' hurting a bit...
:D
I am not selling the 1509, sorry, but they are pretty inexpensive motors ($205.50),
but if you are planning in running heats, this is not the motor for ya... way too hot.

HI,
What would you recommend for a motor for heat racing and batteries and ESC?
5 lap heats on a 1/5 mile course. Probably about 1- 1 1/2 minutes in each heat and 4 heats for the day..
Thanx, Tom

The Blizzard was designed as a 6 cell boat or 2 lipo these days. With that being said, 2s1p 5000 30C NEU cell (or equivalent), Hydra 240, 1509/1.5D or the 1509/1Y and a small prop, maybe a 442 or a 632. That's what I'd try.
If there is someone out there with a setup that is working, you are welcome to chime in.

Tom,

If you want a cheaper option, you could try a Feigao 8S or 7S motor, with a Hydra 120 ESC. I run an 8S motor with 2S 5000 mAh lipos and a 432 in my BBY rigger, and it is quick. The power system would be even better with a 632, but I haven't had time to tune the hull for that. It wouldn't be as quick as a Neu, but still fast and easy on the cells.

You could also look at the Elite 5300 mAh lipos for a touch more capacity.

Cheers,
Scott

Keep in mind that any motor longer than an S can will require a modification to the front hatch. I ran a Lehner Basic 5300 on 6 cells which I liked. I believe the Feigao/Nemesis/Hacker S cans will fit under the hatch also. Anything longer and you will have to build a bubble in the hatch to clear the motor. A Feigao/Nemesis/Hacker 7S or 8S is a descent sport motor with 6 cells or 2S lipos and a X632 prop.

Thanx for the info Jeff,
I'm thinking of a Feigao 7s for the motor.
I'll have to see what fits in there for lipos.

Tom, I fit a Feigao 8L under the hatch... it is an exact fit, nothing larger will go. The down side is that it leaves even less room for cells and ESC

Jan,
Should I go with a 7S or an 8S ? I'll be running 4350xp-2s batteries in series and I have a Hydra 120 for an esc... Prop recommendations? It's for a Blizzard outrigger... Best place to pick up some batteries?
Thanx, Tom

Since this is going to be more like a sport rigger, I think an 8s will be fine.
You'll still have good speeds and will be a bit easier on your equipment.
I have been inpressed with the service of http://www.rclipos.com/
Pat has good deals and ships things right away (if in stock). I know you are going with PolyRC packs
but consider the Elite cells as well... he has the 2S 4800 25C, you'll get a bit more run time and a bit more weight up front (which I think is needed on 2S)... it's just an idea, do what you will.
Another thing, it's FREE SHIPPING!
I'd start with an x432, check temps and get to know your boat... once you dialed it in, try a x632 or maybe a detonged 435. All these props are 1/8 shaft. Don't forget to water cool your motor and esc
