I just finished setting the CG on my 37" Aeromarine Sport 40 with a Plett 1800/4 on a overdrive of 1.03:1 with a x645 prop on 18 cells. I will post the results as soon as i get back.

The first run was OK. I had to push the boat to get it on plane and the speed was about that of a stock boat. I didn't bring any props or tools with me so i couldn't make any adjustments, but from what i saw I can go up maybe to a x648 or bigger as i got about 5 minutes of runtime pushing lots of water and not airing out the tunnel. The motor and batteries we just slightly warm.

Matt,

That boat looks to have been run with either nitro or gas engine. Because of that, the hull may be too heavy to get much out of with electric power.

I believe that the Aeromarine hulls that Chris Fine is selling have be specially laid-up in an extra light manner, just for electric power. Of course, I may be wrong.

Before going through all of the trouble of installing motor and hardware, you could call Chris and ask what the average weight of his bare hulls weigh. If this one is alot heavier, you can power it with nitro or sell it off.

Good Luck.

Kevin, you would be right about that. They are light layups for electric.

Paul.

I used a Plett 920/30/6 direct drive on mine on 18 cells with an X642, but an X645 would have worked just as well. After 5 laps it still had over half the 2400's yet to go!

No heat, either.

My boat was 6 pounds 8 ounces ready to go. Hopefully Barry will bring it to Michigan.

Just an observation.I've noticed when racers run gear drives their always running out to get bigger props!
Sounds like there going to be quite a few Aeromarine hulls competing this season.

STEVE Hang in there you only need 4 mins to run in Offshore in Mi.

Ken,

It's a Sport 40 hull like Chris Harris ran in S Sport last year. Steve's is set up as a Q right now.

The boat is setup as Q right now and i think i will run it in S hydro. I am very confident that the boat will pick up some real speed as soon as a put on a larger prop and adjust the strut. I'll try again tomorrow and i will post the results.
