California is a big place, where are you looking at?? Nothing much in the way of FE except the SAWS in October, but lots of other racing action.
Two places you can find race schedules are the two NAMBA Districts in California.
District 19 is Southern California: http://www.namba19.com/
District 9 is Northern California: http://www.namba9.net/
There is a nitro heat race in Camarillo this weekend.
There is a gas race (2-day) at Legg Lake next weekend.
8/23-24 is a SAWS (mixed) at Legg Lake
9/13-14 is a gas race (2-day) at Legg Lake
9/27-28 is a 2-Lap Time trial at Legg (all boats)
October 17-19 is the FE SAWS at Legg Lake
Nov 1-2 is another mixed SAWS at Legg lake
And then there are a bunch of nitro and gas heat races going on down here as well.
Cehck the District 9 site for the NORCAL schedule.

District 9 has a very active gas and nitro race schedule. Despite the listing on their site however, there really are not any electric races. Lake Minden, just south of Yuba City on 99 is probably the closest racing venue to you.

there really are not any electric races.
Sad but true.I'm kind of new to the boat scene and was disappointed that there are virtually zero electric races here .Why is that ??
Thanks

This last June there were some FE races just out side of Sacramento, The crew from Washington Did real well and they are pretty active, I would have liked to see a group photo foe some Cali boaters, Hopefully one of these times I am gong to go and either race or watch I do not know what the requirements are to be a contestant but I am going to find out!! It would be nice if we had a little more race action around here, like it not a lack of water or anything like that,
Yuba city is rather close to my sons house in Chico CA so he and I may have to go and check it out some time!!

That was the 2008 NAMBA Fast Electric Nationals (NATS). We had people from not only the Pacific northwest but from northern and southern California, Arizona, Florida, and New Jersey.
The only requirement to compete in any race out here in the west is to be a current member of NAMBA. Nothing else is needed besides the desire to compete.

I ask that question on a regular basis. In some senses there are not any races because there aren't any races. Sort of a if you build it they will come thing. There are only a few people in SOCAL interested in racing, a few up north, and a few in Arizona. Beats me why FE racing is not catching on.
Gas racing is going great guns. We'll have 50 drivers and 180 boats at the next District 19 gas race on August 23 & 24 at Legg Lake. We had 18 total drivers at the NAMBA FE NATS in June.
I think the fact that there is a good solid gas racing series going helps attract new racers. While FE essentially has none, hence it is hard to attract people to something that basically does not exist.
They guys up in the Pacific northwest have a good race series going and that helps sustain the thing. Same with Michigan and Florida.
Like I said, it beats me what the deal is.

Bill, Thanks once again for your needed input, and Mr Ghost thank you too!! maybe we need to get some FE against Nitros and whip the pants off them in some exhibition events (if we can get slotted in) at some of their races!! Now wouldn't that be fun and boost the Interest level in our boating preference?
I have not been at this for very long like some of you pros but I do have a fast boat and would like to see what it can do, but I do not know all the ins and outs of the politics governing getting a exibition race started, you know if we all banded together we could get a unlimited open or something like that. If any of you ever go to finedesignrc's website and watch any of his videos you will find electrics and nitro's in the same race (WHAT UP)

You are in NAMBA District 9. I'd contact the District Director there, Dave Bestpitch. He knows what FE boats can do as he did a lot at the FE NATS at Lake Minden.
There have been two races in your District this year that allowed FE boats to run with gas boats in gas boat classes. Neither one was a District points race, but rather special events. These were the Gran Prix Classic in February at Kaiser Cove and the Gold Rush race at Lake Minden in April. In both cases they allowed large FE boats to run in a gas boat class.
Down here they have not let us run FE boats with nitro. They did offer to let us run our own classes during a nitro race, but again, we could not get 3 guys with the same boat to come out. They are going to do the same thing at a nitro race in Arizona in October. Run FE classes that can muster 3 or more boats.
The gas guys down here will let an FE boat run in their "Open" class on Sundays, but nobody has done it yet. I am the only down here with a boat that would be competitive and I just have not gotten around to running it in the open class. I do run gas boats in the gas races.
Here's Dave's email: dave.bestpitch@namba.com
Touch base with him and see what the deal is up in your neck of the woods.
