Guys, Ty and I are going out Sunday to watch the fossils play. I emailed to see if they'd let me run Sport 20 FE powered with them but I never heard back from them. Maybe I'll try the actual phone tonight. They're probably skeer'd. They did have a 80 boat max entries. Go figure.
I just thought I'd mention it here in case anyone wanted to check it out to. I love racing even if it ain't me do'n it.

Mark, how old are your kids running novice?
I've been trying to find a niche for my 8 year old. He's a bit of a maniac but he's taken notice of the boats finally. I'm building him an N2 Sport. I just have to resist making it really fast......at first. haha Shooting for stable.
I'll keep an eye out for ya. Intro's are weird at a race. Some guys are so focussed I don't like to mess with their mojo.

I sold my .21 hydro last fall so I am down to zero nitro boats. I have a whip .21 kit that I was planning on building this winter to run at the nitro races.
Come check it out, the 40 hydro (rigger) class is faSSSSSSSStttttt

I just flipped through your gallery. I know I've seen that pink Herzog before. Maybe at Spencer last year. Can't be many of them kick'n around.
My 17 year old has more fun working a race than racing in it. She likes to do the scores.
SWEET videos by the way.

I'd really like to see a whole heat of these driven by guys that can hold the pins.
Steve Reesor won open hydro down in Seville this past weekend with his FE rigger. By 25 points! Now that's the way to win. No freebies.
We saw some sick fast heats in Canada but Steve was recovering from eye surgery so he was being careful.......er. Steve was about 4 seconds off the NAMBA record but he was in lane 17 most of the way. The next fastest boat was one that he loaned to Nayman just to get the class on the water. Can't get to aggressive with a loaner. Truely amazing how fast those boats run out of straight.
Mark, I've had more brains farts on race day from running my mouth instead of paying attention. If we get in the way send us pack'n.

It wasn't even close. He was DQ'd in heat 5 for a mystery lane infraction.
Lets just say that what we see is not always what is.

No kidding? I thought that was your home club hosting. So Steve was basically killing the competition were it not for some chin scratcher calls? At some point the guys that run "open" wont want to race against FE. They just don't have access to the power we can throw at them.
Something I noticed at the Hydrofest was that some guys would enter a turn in lane 1, go straight through to about lane 20 and then hit the exit buoy back in lane 1 again like they own it. Good way to chop someone in half. Good way to get chopped in half. In their' defense it was crazy rough that day.

bahaha I just ran a Fiegeo 7s on 4s1p in my kids Viper. Runn'n the rattle trap again. Vipers are so pretty at that speed. Noisy little bugger.
No harm no foul. Good thing it only made a lap and half before it took flight.

Terry, I think one of the daughters of a Bouy Blaster member had her boat in pink, kinda looked like the same hull.

Probably is. There being only 3 an all. I noticed that hull the first time I saw it. I always liked the Herzog boat. Great lines.
I think there's a pink XXX in the district somewhere too.

Well now, that kinda straightened that question out didn't it Mr. Wurzinger.
Are you thinking about breaking out of Fossil fuel and leaning about volts and amps ?? Terry's the guy to talk too. By the By, John Z. is going to participate a little more with us, since he looking at a winter build of the Vac-u-pickle along with his SV-27.
You should swing by our race in Oct and see how much fun FE really is.
Oct 12th 10:00 (1st heat), Ford Field, on 23 Mile Rd, about 1/4 mile west of Van Dyke. Right across the street from the McDonalds. The pond is on the right as you enter.

no still love the gas boats . nothing like running all day long:moon: . but with my limited vision the mini fe's are fun for me I just have to stop having them go up in smoke.
I have a 46" arrow shark i might do fe over the winter. by the way why do you slam the gas boats by calling them fossil fuel when the electrics are also fossil fuel ? have to charge the batteries some how .
hope to see ya at the race sunday

I guess I never thought of it as a slam exactly. Sort of like when we call Howard Tucker "Fireball". That guy's had more flaming cheese saganaki type damage in one season than most guys have in a lifetime of racing. If he doesn't find some humor in it somehow......
When I say "fossil" I mean it two ways. One like fossil fuel in the traditional sense but also fossil as in "old school". Sometimes I use it when refering to some of our club members. We have a number of guys that are fossils.
Too mean spirited ya think? I'm a model boating fan. I do electric but hold no ill will towards the others. Not really. Just a little ribb'n on my part. Like when we hear "it's electric huh? that's cute". DOH!

We need to come up with something derogatory for the fuel guys to call us. Amp hogs, battery sniffers, dim bulbs, Lith heads, something....
SteveReesor
09-26-2008, 05:23 PM
Geez I don't know Terry, I've been called lots of things by fuelers, most of which I can't repeat here.
The one I can however is..."arc welder"
T.S.Davis
09-27-2008, 02:11 AM
Yeah but Steve that's just because every time you toss a boat in with them you stomp the poo out of them. Most of their names for you star with F.
I've been calling us all FE turds for years. How about "ions"? Sort of like "high ons" without the H.........and you have to say it like a pirate.
..............I better get some sleep.

OHHHHH, and who might you be referring to there Lad ??
Fossil Fuel is derived from where it comes from.
FE power is a mix of chemistry and metal. I'm not a chemist so I won't go any further to show Terry the other fossil :moon:
They both work except we're quiet and not $50.00 a gallon for nitro. I know Gas is cheap in comparison to Lipo's, especially when ya smoke em Right Terry. But try putting a mod 26 in a 27" hydro and run around 5 laps in a balsa and FG hull at almost 30. Mark,I know you got bad eye sight, but ya might fit right in with Doc Costello. He's always running over me. LOL
The love love relationship in boat racing is similier of the Army and Marines in a nice quiet bar. Ya know something is going to be said, just not sure when. BAHAAAAAAAHAAAAA.
I have a gasser, but I'm selling it off until I can afford a compeditive sport hydro. In the mean time I'm having a fricken blast with this electric stuff and I'm still running Nickel metal batt's. LIPO's next season.

Terry, one thing is a given.... If ya can't beat it, knock it down Amphead, amphole, whatever, we are the next generation of get it done under power.
I watched those fossal fuelers go like mad, until one drops out then the 2nd, and the speeds were not as fast and powerful as Ken under his wattage. SO, why will IMPBA not allow nitro, gas, electrc run together. Same question for NAMBA.
Perhaps chemistry is or might be stronger than $55.00 for nitro and under $4.00 for gas + additives. I know I belong to another club.
APBA, lets a gas engines run against Turbines. so get a life here. These events are so toward ther own they don't have any respect for the future, or really don't care for this stepchild.. God forbid the day they do, and get a whippin from FE.......... Amen, going to work on my boat. See ya in the MORNING. Let the fun begin. I love the smell of napahm in the morning...
God bless America :hail:

I love the smell of napahm in the morning...
Smells like.....victory. For me it's the smell of burnt phenolic though.
After going to a few fuel and a few mixed events now I've given this "run em together" idea some thought. There are some problems with it.
There's the start. A multi-lap mill just makes sense for fuel. A full lap mill is do-able on 1P but any more adds dough to your already pricey setup.
Which brings us to the cost. To be competitive with fuel you can't just buy an off the shelf boat and expect to keep up. MO money MO money. If you have two boat that run the same speed the FE boat will be more $ more often than not. At the moment at least.
The biggest problem in my opinion is parrity. How the heck could you ever equate an electric setup to a nitro setup? In a B mono there are only so many versions of the same motor being run. For say a P mono the possibility is endless. There is no exact gotta have it setup. Open classes are cool but once the FE guys start spanking them with $3000 boats the FE guys days are numbered.
I prefer electric but not because it's cheaper or better. I just prefer it. For me it's like a disease. haha You'd think they'd have an ointment or something.
The fuel guys have they're stuff down to an art just as well as we do. It's just a little different form of the same art. Imagine two artists. Painters. One uses water colors exclusively. The other is an oil paint guy. Both have honed their skills to produce...........art. Each just "preferes" his form. But still, each can appreciate the skill and effort it takes to produce the art of the other.
There are fuel guys that hate FE but I think they are few and far between. I've not met any like that yet at least. For the most part they are all just model boaters. Model boaters are all nuts. No matter the power source.

oh by the way. That amphole comment came from another amphole. Moderator on here these days to boot. Wonder if he'll remmber having typed that. He meant nothing by it. Term of endearment. haha It's the best one I've heard for us yet.
See ya in the morning Chuck.
