What's up mike hows the vac u pickle going I just got one going to run N2 with it . Well the UL ran OK the first thing i had to do was get some more steering out of it so i moved the linkage 2 holes on the servo horn that fix that i ran it with the stock plastic prop the first two runs the speed was OK handling was pretty good . Then i ran a m445 speed got a lot better but she started to get a little flighty on me so i lowered the strut 1/16 that settled it down pretty good handling in the turns was really good. Then it got really fun i put a grim L40x57/3 on her and it got really fast but got really flighty to and had some really violent chine walk it was rocking back and forth like crazy on the sponsons so i lowered the strut another 1/16 and angled the strut 1 degree that help but not completely got any ideas ? and that prop caveatted a lot before it got up on plane hope i can figure it out i would really like to run the L40x57/3 prop it had great speed and real good drive out of the turns i think i might be able to test some more on Tuesday after work :yeah:

How were your temps looking on the L40x57/3? I am really curious to see how much we can lower the strut before it starts to increase the temps.

From what others are talking it sounds like it's a charateristic of the hull. I would try some more strut depth as long as temps are OK.

I am getting all fired up this year.... I need to get my prep work done and these boats into paint.

Tony good to hear you got out, were do you test?

I tested my new 40" 10S Cat yesturday, 50mph on first run with that little outrunner motor!

Mike i hear you on the paint prep i have 3 hulls to paint, lots of work.

Yah... Where are you guys testing? I can have my N2 hull ready to test and do the painting later!!!!!

UL-1 is a different story. I have the entire hull stripped and about 80% sanded. I hope to start priming end of this week or begining of next. I am still not sure about this painting stuff. Not my strong suit.

The only way to get those sponsons from slapping is drop some of the angle. They all do it....the design of the sponson...faster on lower power but sponson dancing.

I am amzaed at how many are able to run on thru it from the videos I have seen. Looks pretty cool but the boat that stays on the water WFO and eats thru the chop will have a better chance of winning.

You guys are making me jealous. I went by the lake today. There was someone with a bass boat out there. I couldn't believe it. That's it, I'm charging up some batteries and going testing. The only problem will be if I have to retrieve the boat. It's going to be cold getting in the rescue boat. But, without a rescue boat, the boat will go by by.

Hey Gang,

I got a chance to finally run my UL-1 yesterday. I ran it 3 times before my retrieve boat broke down. I ended up running a 42X55/2 that was considerably faster than the stock prop. My strut was set to 1” with 0 degrees of angle. Boat was fast and turned good, but it was a little flighty for my liking. That is the prop I plan on running for the club race on Sunday, but I will put a little angle in the strut to try and calm the boat down. Temps nothing was over 100 degrees.

I have the 40X57/3 but that prop is going to take a lot of work to get sharpened, balanced, and thinned.

Tony, How did your boat turn with that 40X57/3?

Mike,

A down angle in the strut of 1-2 degrees should help to calm the boat down. Is there any room to move the batteries foward? If it's flighty in testing, it could be a real handful during a race.

Mike the 40x57/3 was very fast but it did make every thing warmer than i would like i think for me the m445 would be better race set up speed was good and the temps were alot better. Wish i could make the race this weekend but my daughters wedding is this weekend
