at 300 grams per cell, can anyone tell me the major advantages or disadvantages for li-fe cells? that seems heavy to me, plus 38mm x 120 mm seems a bit big.
?? confused.
here is what they claim....
LiFePO4 batery is much more safe than Li-po, LiFePO4 battery no fire, no explosion at all.
But the highest charged voltage of LiFePO4 cell is only 4.0V, while that of Li-po is 4.2V.
For big planes and helicopters need big battery(as high as 48V and 50Ah), LiFerPO4 is much more better than Lipo battery.

My A123 LiFePo4 are much smaller than that 26mmx65mm 2300mah and are 3.2v nominal with a 3.6v charged voltage, I'd be interested in hearing more about this new LiFePo4 technology with 4v charge as that closes the gap with LiPo quite significantly.

Just trying to compare.

Did I mis something, or are you just talking about 2S2P ??
The great advantage of Lifepo is that you can just ABUSE these cells, and they don't care at all !

I am trying to outfit a MHZ drambuie on ice boat with 8s -10s requirements. is it worth a try? or just stick with lipos?

only high discharge rating i could find on the net was 20c. Though i do like the no fire thing. I will watch this tech and see if it takes off, other than hand tools and notebooks. :)

My dream : these : http://shop.lipopower.de/LiNANO-10-Ah-32V-LiFepo-Zelle-SL-FFA
If only they were available !!!
Ps : the 3C is what the manufacturer says. They have been tested at over 250 Amps !!!!

I can only agree with Gerwin Brommer, The LiFePO4 cells are phenomenal.
The A123's are...

BUT.....
Modern lipos are in general much safer than they were. Lipo's still have different construction so if you look at something like the vislero cells they have cobalt anodes which are very very stable but on the heavy side.
Newer lipo cells are using different compounds which may be not so stable but 6000 mah is now available and 5300 in an old 6cell pack size.
I supplied some 5200 lipos for test and they beat the lifpo4 boats....... Its a fine line.
BTW our rules are 3s2p life/ 2s1p lipo, 5s2p life/ 4s1p lipo.
Thats not the whole story because the kind of power that is now available maybe you want the extra weight to hold the boat down - or maybe you want to be able to put it somewhere else
