Thie cowl on a rico 29 is my issue. It is turned up on the outside edges on both sides of the cowl. I would say it is turned up 1/8 of an inch most of the way on both sides. Is it hopeless to expect to use this in the taping process?

Brand new boat bought from Kevin Sheren former Impba nat'l gas director.

Can you turn it over and glass in some 1/8" ply or spruce to straighten it out??

tnks Doug, well yes but the boat has a small pattern or lip the thickness of the cowl around the top of the boat. This pattern is only indented the thickness of the cowl itself and any additional thickness would make the cowl thicker and standup. Would it stay taped down with it, if it was thicker??

Its hard to tell what it looks like with no Pics. Maybe you could post on another forum.

Sometimes you can clamp and use heat to streighten FG , but 1/8" might be too much depending on the thickness.
Would it work to put some filler , resin and micro balloons or ?, to fill in where its warpd up , and sand the warped up part flush and the filler smooth so you can tape ?

I've never met Richie but it's my understanding he is a pretty nice guy. Send him a email and see if he'll hook you up. It can't hurt to try!!

try using a heat gun to soften the material, then clamp until cool. works every time!!
