This is my first venture using a Graupner motor, re: SPEED 700 BB TURBO, 9.6 v. Graupner spec. sheet recommends using additional "anti-interference filter." Is that their #3362? Is there something better that anyone can recommend? Is there a detailed publication available on motor suppression or other means of protection? Anyone, Please.
I am setting up my Midwest Boothbay Lobster Boat for a drag race, when the ice is out, using Futaba receiver & ESC (reversing) along with the Graupner. Comments or suggestions??

Whoa! Lobsters rule! Check out my web site http://www.bootwerkes.com The opening image is "Uncle's UFO"...are you familiar with it? On my projects page you can check out my lobster project, the "Rock Lobster." Do you have any pictures of your lobster boat?

As for your motor suppression, you're correct about the 9.6...though I can't find the recommended filter anywhere...we need Andrew at http://www.fastelectrics.com to pipe in here...

George

Three u.01 capacitors will do the trick.

One across the terminals and from each terminal to the can. ALso if using an ESC use a Schottky Diode and on 12 cells a 20volt metal oxide varistor

Thanks for the input guys.
George, At the moment I only have hard copy photos of the boat. But, I got a recent gift from my wife of a digital camera. Once I learn how to transmit photos via the computer I'll give you a looksee.

Andrew, does the capacitor & diode or varistor hookup hold true when running a reversing ESC?

Allright, Lee, keep in touch. I really want to see that lobster of yours, and hear how it runs. You said you were going to drag it...against what?

George

I'll be up against another Midwest Lobsterboat. We are not sharing or drive specs. so it should be interesting. There are a couple of Dumas Chris-Craft owners that may want to challenge, not sure yet.

Fantastic! If there is any chance of recording the event with some pictures that would be very neat.

Please keep me posted on how you do, and good luck!

George

Lee

when using a reversing esc (ie reverse polarity) a schottky diode which is polarised should not be used.

The varistor performs a similar task but is not polarised so is useful with a reversing controller

Thanks Andrew, you answered my final nagging question on this "Motor Suppression" project.

Best Regards,to you,
