I had some good luck this weekend in constructing a corrogated throttle rod housing for my 1/30th scale Dumas PT boat. Thought I'd send along a description. The throttle rod housing is intended to be a 1/8th square basswood stick that runs from the pilot house to past the Deck house, on the right hand side. It is supposed to be corrogated lengthwise on top. I did this by discarding the wood and taking seven strips of 10 thousandths styrene and stripping it to .125" using my balsa stripper. I then made six 10 thousandths strips of about .115". The smaller strips's dimension will depend on the primer and paint you intend to use. I stacked the strips, which are about 12" long starting with the wide, then narrow, then wide ... until I had a stack. I rotated the stack edge up and pushed down all of the smaller strips with the back of an exacto blade. Looks pretty corrogated at this point. I placed the stack in a Saran wrap (and I suggest you get the real thing) trough between two steel rules that clampled the whole thing together, it doesn't have to be too tight. I then painted a heavy coat of liquid stryene cement on the stack and left it dry throughtly. The cement both glues everything together and rounds the tops of the taller strips so that they look even more like corrogation. I stripped off the Saran, and had a flexible and authentic looking corrogated throttle box.

Best of Luck
Nick
