View Full Version : Super Hawaii Wing gripes
I recently purchased the Super Hawaii (ABC) and have spent the past few hours building it. Everything has gone fairly smoothly (maybe I'm used to Traxxas' unparalleled instruction manuals but this manual sucks; some descriptions don't fit, wrong parts numbers, instructions for another boat), except for one problem. First of all, let me express my extreme HATE for decals. The decals on this boat are bigger than my old boat, and they never go on the first time with no bubbles. And I can't stand the fact that 2 of the 3 drivers need to be cut out and glued on... either make them all that way or none that way. And the spoiler that supposedly goes on the back isn't for this boat... In addition, it wouldn't have killed them to cut out the wing and included some other fastening mechanism other than a button-head screw for it. It is IMPOSSIBLE to put on those decals straight (as well as the windshield decal). Anyone haver any pointers?
Thanks for letting me rant for a few minutes...

Never had a problem with decals, but then I always used tried-and-true Windex method. Soapy water works too. You can read about it here (http://www.rc-hydros.com/manuals/ul72vinyl.pdf).
I found the bolt-on top wing very convenient. In rough water it takes all of about 20 seconds to take it off to calm the boat down.
The 2 driver thins is kinda strange, but having been in the vacuum business I understand why they didn't put all three busts on the one mold.
I didn't even try to spoiler - it ruins the looks.
I didn't find any mis-numbered parts. There ARE two versions of the drivetrain (different bearing sizes)- perhaps you got the manual for the wrong one?

Does the wing do a lot to calm the boat down? I am running with 7 cells right now and I took the boat out today for the first time and the wind was blowing the front end all over the place...
I used the Windex method from the get-go... I'm just retarded at putting decals on; I can barely put small ones on, never mind 3 foot long ones.

Removing it duts the lift, allowing it to ride the water a little heavier. When you have it on it flies more easily.
Get a bunch of bubblewrap and stuff the nose of the boat full of it. You need to remove a big piece of the forward bulkhead/radio box to do this. It's easy and necessary.

I sprayed windex on an R/C car window masks and it ate the adheasive right off( that made me so mad it wasn't funny). So now I am cautious abot using windex on any sticker. I use water now........
