Hey Avenger
That boat will wipe the that metal working competition. I went to see a go-cart that supposibly won first place in state. It was selling for 75 bucks but it looks like a four year old welded it up.
I just got back from seeing Zeelands new school. Three brand spankin new mills. The old ones were not kept up so they wobbled.

Eric

Venger, went to the sight man, must of been high quality labour intensive stuff, cuz looks like they stopped making them (not economically feasible) , good score on your part, it's aplace to try out that new hardware you were thinking of making, some parts of the aluminum would look cool with that engine turning pattern similar to the spirit of st louis and old GTO dashboards very cool can't wait to see it, btw a senior huh, thinking of slacking huh,,,, just think of all those applications ya gotta fill out, or job hunting, or working or taxes,,,, think your scarce on time now LOL just you wait,,,,,, hahahaha just kidding, I know this will be a top notch project, good luck dude, cheers eddie

MAJOR SLACKING (who said that) well i can afford to do that anyway! i only need 1.5 credits to gradutate! (i have been doing 0 hrs since 9th grade! extra 3 credits!) but anyway i really cant wait to get started! the guy is sending me the plans as a CAD file and i am going to get all the parts laser cut! nice edge and all! i will TIG weld the whole hull... get a nice small strong weld! CANT WAIT!

im just kidding on the slacking thing... i plan on staying on the honor role!(3.5GPA) infact i allready know that i am getting a scholership for college!
back to the boat... since it is a school project anyone want to fund it (can you say TAX WRIGHT-OFF)!? get your name on the boat!:D(Dick Crowe buddy ole' pal!;))
cuz i think that this would be a kinda sweet electric boat! what BL motor would suit this boat...(maybe RRHobbies would want to donate a system????;)) im guessng that the hull is gona be a heavy beast! like 7-10lbs!!!!! (lots of room for floatation in this hull!):

actualy i found out a bit about the weight of these hulls! and it surprized the hell out of me!
they 67" mono that they made weighs about the same as a 46" fiberglass mono (laid up for nitro or gas!) with the stringers and everything... so maybe my 7-10 estimate was alittle off maybe more like 3-4lbs (just guessing!)

I would not want to sell it! i think that a twin geared BL set-up would be the sweetest! get them on a twin turbo trans... like 30 somthing cells... or get a cordite 50/? in there and run it on 32 cells! that would be the best!

IMO If you are running twin motors and big cell counts run them direct unles syou want one driveline
In that case go to a larger single motor - better power to weight ratio
The props we have available are may and varied for this type of setup
John who wons JIL is a great guy and we speak regualrly. I have visited JIL Engineering and he is a craftsman who does very high quality aluminium fabrication.
I am in regular contact with him - his latest project is one of DOug Forresters Hydromites - its a secret who sold him the power train lol
Btw here is a pick of the Eagle Blitz (18" mono) with a one his boats under construction

is he making the hydromite out of aluminum??? that would be sweet! but i will figure out all the drive train once i get the hull finished! (which i will not even be able to start until allmost september!)

Just a thought, does the aluminum hull cause any radio interference? I know you would have to keep all the electrics very tidy to prevent shorting but the whole boat is like a giant heat sink, you could plumb the cooling coils directly into the hull with some naca ducts this would be very cool,,,,, great stuff thanks for the pics,

i dot know about the radio interfearence.... but o well i just want to make it anyway!

Radio you can work around and the interference is not an issue because the hull is welded - however stay close with John on the welding
