I used to run nitro .21 and .45 mongoose riggers. I decided to come back and run FE :D

Is there any rigger plan that I can download or buy to build a 6-7 cells rigger.

Thanks.

International Waters has one. Send a PM to Tom Moorehouse on this site.

Andy, how does the rigger you suggest match against the yellow jacket, I have bought the yellow jacket plans, and now that I have a few weeks off (hopefully) I'd like to try and build it, I was hoping to use the astro 05 I have sitting around (brand new ) in it, BTW loved the pictures of the "Dungeon" I was afraid I was the only one whose bench looks like that mine isn't quite as neat though, and the plane made me feel better about those megas I bought, maybe I should look around for a nice kit to drop them in, problem being I know less about planes then I do about boats, that is very little lol, anyway thanx for any input, cheers eddie

Can't say, exactly. He wanted to download - Tom's boat is the one I know he can download, and I know the Yellow Jacket CAN'T be.

Both seem to run well from the reports I've seen. I sold my last rigger to Evan Wade early last year and haven't built a replacement for it yet.

Hello Andy,

I'll have a little something coming your way, I think you'll like it.

Paul.

Thx for the great info. I ordered the yellow jacket plan for 6 cell mono class. Also I brought a EL LOBO 3 since I am in Dist 1 and known Doug Twaits Sr and Jr from way back. Spoke to Chris and decided P mono is the class to go in Dist 1.

Hope next year I will be up to speed and race again :D

Ops I meant 6 cells hydro class for the Yellow Jacket .

I haven't run one of the Intlwaters 6-cell riggers, but Tom did a lot of research on it and I'm sure it will run well. The Yellow Jacket was originally designed for 6-cell ROAR motors and entry-level racers, but I discovered that it ran very well as an open motored 6-cell boat. I haven't run the prototype for several years but I was getting sub-15 second laps in competition with a non-state-of-the-art 05 and 2000 cells - fast enough to have beaten the class record at the time. With the current N2 hydro record under 12 seconds a lap using brushless technology and super cells my experiments sound tame. But, with a modern 9- to 10-turn 05 ( D4, P94 or Ti ) and a smaller prop than I used it should give the other designs a good run.

I did a follow up to the original construction article on the YJ in RCBM - I can e-mail it to you if you are interested. In it I told of some of my experiments and modifications to make the boat run better on a hot 05 and 6 cells.

I'm continually making new 4/6 cell riggers, and while they work well they are not as easy to set up as the YJ. I'll get around to a construction article one of these days....

Jay, as this would be mt first rigger, I would appreciate any tips, I have an astro sitting around, as I don't race, just feel the need for speed, will this do?, I also have a 17t double trinity brandy new, or I also purchased a trinity monster maxx wild it's a 600 size motor, I also bought some shorty 1700 scrs i was thinking 12 cells and the bigger motor, but what ever tips I will listen, if you don't mind send to ejhansen@comcast.net cheers eddie

Jay,

Do you run the 9-10t 05 motors direct?

Yes Dave, direct drive through a flex cable. A rigger can handle this power level for racing using a smaller prop like a 1732, y535, etc. Run time will be relatively short - under 2.5 minutes with 2400s - but that's enough to complete a 5-lap heat. Slower speeds and longer run times can be had with smaller props like the x432. This non-lifting prop will need to be angled down a few degrees at the stern to keep the transom up.

For sport running a milder motor would work better with decent speeds and less motor maintenance. With the 12-turn motor and an x637 prop I made sub-15 second laps, which is still pretty darn fast!
