I just purchassed a SPEED 700 motor and need a esc for it. I want a RC Hydros esc and don't know which one I should get. Can someone tell me which esc would run the best with the 700 that has some experience with them. I want one that'll work good with it but can't be to expensive.

The SC3-SPORT was designed for Speed 700's on 12 cells. It is also good for N1 and N2 (single 05) car motors on 6 cells.

I se that it is watercooled. Do you need to watercool it or is it fine just without watercooling it? It is also waterproofed by you correct? i'm sorry for all these questions but I wanna know the full details of what I should do before i start doing something that i don't really need or should do.

Yes, it comes waterproofed.
I always recommend water cooling but many guys don't use it that way.

I plan on watercooling the motor but does the esc really need it?
If it runs fine and pretty cool without watercooling then I probably won't but if it needs it I will. I would like to know if I should or not. If anyone has used this esc and the Speed 700 motor can you tell me, should i water cool it or just watercool the motor?

If you're doing one, why NOT the other? You only need another 6-12 inches of fuel tubing - a buck or so. No more water pickups, just put cool the ESC first (it's more money than the motor) and then the motor.

i would cool the ESC first for a different reason... well the ESC does not generate that much heat (depends on who is driving) so it may rais the water temp in the lines a degree or two and it is nice and cooled... and that cold water goes on to the motor and does its job well... but if you cool the motor first it has to go threw all the tubing and brush coolers (if you have them) and them that might rais the temp about 10 degrees! so by the time it gets to the esc it is not doing as good of a job removing the heat! i dont know i am taking a wild stab at the temps and all but it just seems more logical in my head!

Like Andy said the ESC is more $ but it is also the brains so cool it first, not that Andys ESC's will get even the hint of warm with a 700 and 12 cells There is a reason everyone uses them.

Thanks guys I figured you'd all say that. I ordered the 700 and everything to get my boat running except the esc. However I hope to order it soon.

Evader,
I would recommend that you get one of Andy's higher cell models - not sure which ones they are now. This will give you the ability to go up to 16 cells on the 700 or higher with other types of brushed motors in case you want to run a range of different boats with it.

Yeah if it lasts a long time which it should with Andys love and care of building it but, I will never run over 12 cells. the only boats it'll ever be in are my Cataramaran and a EV once the Cataramaran poops out on me. The only boats I'll even ever have in my life won't use higher than 12 cells. Thanks for the help though.
