Nice boat Jeff! Is this one that you built or is it come from someone else's plug? The thing runs great too. It's going to be a big hit with guys running 1/7th scale in your club. Looks like you're in for some more long hours in the shop laying up, gearing up and painting boats for most of the membership. I don't know how you do it. First in 1/10th and now in 1/7th scale. I don't know how you find the time, but you do excellent work!

this hull is a joint effort between Henry Marvin and Campbell hydros, we now have 1/7th scale molds to build hulls from the early 1950's to present day.

Hi are you running the Scorpion Out Runner on 8S?
I am running one in my 1/8th and found the temp is quite high and are having problems trying to get the temperatures down.
If you are running the Scorpion, what is a good dia/pitch for the prop and what is the settings on your ESC (and brand)
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Merv, try a graupner k57. It's the STD prop for our 1/7 racing...on 8s.

Hi tharmer, I have been using a X455 which is the same pitch (1.4) as a K57 but less diameter so in theory it should be OK. Think it may be the timing on the ESC. I am using a Aquastar (Turnigy) which is the same as a Swordfish 240. I did set the PWM at 8khz and the timing at middle 5-20 degrees.
Any more suggestions?

the scorpion motor needs airflow to cool itself, i would remove the plastic cover and
let some air into the motor, also it looks like it is draging the back end of the boat
most of the time, i would increase the shaft angle to carry the rear end a little more.
what is the total weight?

The boat weighs 13lbs 2oz.
I will give the shaft more angle on my next try
I run the boat as a sealed unit like one large radio box. To remove the plastic cover I would need to put the radio gear into a water tight container.
Do you run your boats with the lipos, Esc and motor exposed to the elements?
Thanks for your input.

more than a little water gets into the scale boats in the Seattle area

We run our Scale FE's similar to the way the nitro scales are run. Typically the batteries, motors and servos and esc's are exposed and the receiver and it's battery are in a small, lightweight, waterproof container. The ESC's are water resistant so just don't lay it in the bilge where it will get submerged. Traxis makes a water proof servo also. All your temperatures are too high, particularly the cells which should not exceed 165 degrees F. As Jeff suggests, get some air flow in there and add an Octura self bailer to the outboard canoe.

An alternative to changing the shaft angle to get a level ride is to increase the angle of attack on the tail wing to get more lift on the transom. This is how I get the level ride I want on my modern hulls while keeping a low angle drive line.

i would run the esc in a water tight box and it must be water cooled, also you
can get water cooled motor mounts, how many amps are you drawing? and are
you running 8s2p 3 blade or 2 blade

Thanks Jim and Ron for your answers. I run in salt water so I was trying to keep all the water away from the electronics. I normally run a Plett or a Neu but have been trying out the Scorpion to help H1RC with some motor testing for the RCU.
buzzardu00, I am not sure how many amps I am drawing but I am running 8S1P on a X455/2
I ran my other Bud with the Neu and it can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bZhOHEK5ow and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2v4mpIztLA
Again, Thanks for your input guys, its been a great help.
