That has got to be false advertising ! that is only a Z-Drive 600. good for up to 700 size (maximum) motors.. not recommended for 800 or 820 size motors.. Just thought I'd point that out.

Tony, i called them and i told the guy about the conflicting picture and the description and he told me that the words were correct. I further asked him if he would go and actually look at the item and tell me if it was metal and he did so and it was metal. The only thing i am not sure about if it's like yours or the big bulky one. Either way, i ordered 2 and he told me if i didn't like them just to send them back.

Hey I found it. I stand corrected .. and it's cast aluminum.. Very Impressive piece.. makes mine look really out dated.. here is the picture from Graupner. http://www.kelownafastelectrics.com/new_z-820.jpg

Hey does any one know the reliability and performance of this drive system? Would it work well in the electro-vee? It is very tempting to buy this but that would spoil the plans of getting some "real hardware."
Thanks

ERIC those units are great for a sport boat or detailed shelf model but no one runs them competitively. They're to heavy, inefficient and have prop and hull design limitations. The 600-700 size units are scaled to fit hulls in the 22-28" range.
If you need El Vee hardware I have a spare competitive set-up I can let you have at a good price.Let me know

Thanks for the offer KR JOYE but I was thinking about buying the outdrive and then buying the electro-vee to have a hull to run it in. But I think I will stick to my plans of getting a scat cat with "real Hardware" for my next offshore boat.
Thanks anyways,
Eric

I want a couple of those for a yacht I'm going to build. I hope the sale hangs around for a few days.

What.. what do you mean "no one runs them competitively". I use one on my 18cell Offshore hull.. I agree it draws more power to make it go.. But I think it conforms to "offshore" better than most.

All right i'm thinking way to much. But which hulls can I run with this out drive. Could I use it on a catarmeran? Also what hull can i use it with? I want to buy one that is under fifty dollars. I just want to know if i want it before they are gone.
Thanks in advance,
Eric

Most Deep V's between 30 - 40 inches would probably work just fine with that drive.. Like the Super Hawaii. My 40 inch boat handles like it's on rails.. .. you'll still need some turn fins probably. I did on mine. you probably could use these in a Cat also.. you'd need to use two of them. and install in the sides. These drives are not deep enough for use in the middle of a cat.
The 820's are now sold out you lucky dogs. Does anyone have any feedback on the Z-600s. I know there glass filled plastic but what about the gears. A 700 can bolt right on but there also listed at $74.00. Any feed back would be great.

I received both of mine yesterday and they seem pretty heavy duty (a little heavy too). They sure would look sweet (both) mounted on a cat. O well, thats another day as I have to get LSH ready to give Dan and Randy a run for their money this Saturday-yea, like I even have a chance :) Maybe I can hire a hitman to punch some holes through the competitions hulls from a distance :)

some guy with a pellet gun on the other side of the pond! to bad i dont have a hull to mount anything like that on! what about a scatcat 32 have one on each hull and then have that bolted to some ss1 700's? bit to much for that hull?
