Hey guys,
Just ordered me one of these:
http://www.hobby-lobby.com/skyskooter.htm
It doesn't get cheaper than that! hahaha
My thought, it looks like fun, and if the kids or I destroy it, I've got a nice set of parts for a micro hydro....
I'm a little confused, the pic shows a speed control, but the text says there isn't one... No matter, it looks like economical fun!!!

Paul

It's a great little plane. You can read up on it at www.ezonemag.com then go to "discussion" (top left corner menu) then Search (top right corner) for "Sky Skooter" or "Sky Scooter" - it gets spelled both ways.
Just leave the glasses off ;)
It won't have enough power for a micro hydro.

Hey Guys!
It arrived today- the servos are TINY! Cute plane, in my opinion, worth the money.
Hey Andy-
I see what you mean about the glasses, it's what I expected from the pictures I'd seen... This is a styro plane, and there's no mistaking that!!!
It comes w/ a 400 motor- why not enough power for a micro? :)
Heck, the wife likes it, the kids like it, time to go flying! Now- to find a spot... :) There's some farming not too far away, thinking I might find someone that wouldn't find any harm in this little plane... 'ya got any recommendations? ;)
What're your thoughts on AMA membership regarding this electric plane? I wouldn't have flown (and still haven't flown) my J-3 Cub without AMA membership.. Gas just doesn't appeal to me...
About my unflown cub:
The Cub was built from the 60" version Great Planes kit, has alu wing struts, alu landing bracket, and an OS .40 4 stroke in it (Dad hadn't intended a 4 stroke, but later decided the plane was "worthy" of one). Kinda' funny, Dad handed me the kit, once upon a time when I had lots of free time, and said, "Think you'd like to build one?".. I said, "Sure!". Well, when I took it back to him ready to cover, he looked it over, and started uttering things like "man..."... "... wow..."... etc, etc... He told me it was "too perfect", and that I spent too much time on it, unnecessarily. My thought, anything worth building is worth building WELL. I kept telling him it was no big deal, I hadn't spent THAT much time on it... Heck, I tried to point out what I saw as "things that could have been done better", and he told me how he couldn't see what I was talking about.
SO, he proceeded to cover it while I was up visiting, and he was AMAZED at the strength of the wing. He said, "It shouldn't be doing this! EVERY plane I've ever covered, the wing BENDS when you sheet one side.". Well, that was ironic, as the wing was PERFECTLY true before he started- one of the things I pointed out when I handed it to him.
He was going to cover it in cub yellow, but then, he changed his mind once he saw it, to cover it in white. He said white shows flaws more, and this plane doesn't have any... You've got to understand, my father is not the "encouraging" type... more critical than anyone else I know. SO, all his comments where quite suprising.
Well, as the story goes, he finished the plane after my visit, and after a couple years of being garaged (he wanted me to be there for its first flight, and to fly it), he gave it to me. Never a moment in the sky, it hangs over my head here in my office. Sad? Maybe so! I think it's great, one of the few times I impressed my Dad.
I tightened it up a few months ago w/ a heat gun- looks better now than ever. It's got a nick here and there from being stored, but it's in great shape...
That's all, thought I'd share w/ 'ya Andy!
Take Care,
Paul
